how in advance to purchase LONE4??
Hi all
I've just received my validated itinerary and quote from British Airways. The trip begins in september 2007, a whole lot of time ahead. I'm sure I won't change the itinerary cause it's been a lot of time in my mind like that, also because I have friends to visit in these places. What do I do?? Do I purchase the ticket in the next weeks or do I wait some months?? If I buy it right now I'm sure I won't be caught if the price rises, which I'm sure it'll happen without notice If I wait, I have the flexibility to change routes or, say, nobody knows if you can get ill before departure or something unexpected and you've already pay your ticket. Definitely the officers I talk to are not too explicative so I want to ask you guys what if you have to cancel the ticket after having paid... they return some money to you?? all the money?? how much percent?? Should I wait or should I go for it now?? Thanks ^ |
Classic tradeoff, and no right answer:
Buying now locks in the price, taxes and fare rules. Buying later, after JL/MA/RJ join and EI leaves Oneworld, allows travel on those airlines (and prohibits travel on EI). Being able to route on those airlines is a pretty good reason to wait and buy the ticket later (May 2007). Refund terms vary by ticket type and country of purchase. They are shown in the star file rules referenced by the sticky in the top of this forum. In general: 68N CXLN/ 1. PRIOR TO DEPARTURE 69N REFUND - BEFORE TKT DEADLINE - FULL REFUND 70N . - AFTER TKT DEADLINE 71N . ORIGIN AREA 1 - PENALTY 10 0/0 OF THE 72N . TKTD AMOUNT 73N . ORIGIN AREA 2/3 - NO PENALTY. 74N . - IN THE EVENT OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS/ENTRY 75N . PERMIT/VISA ARE DENIED - FULL REFUND 76N . PROVIDED OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION FROM THE 77N . APPROVED AUTHORITY IS PRODUCED AND 78N . ATTACHED TO THE REFUND REQUEST. |
If you buy ex MAD, and cancel before departure, you get a full refund.
