CMB Ticket issuing help
 

Hi All

In the past, I've always used CX to issue my ANOEx ex CMB. This time I'd like to try to get AA to issue a DONEx ex CMB (so I can upgrade my NRT-JFK leg using an eVIP, which has top be on AA stock). I called AA RTW desk in USA but they say I have to use CX to issue the ticket. Is that true?

I did a search and found several mentions of people trying to get this issued on AA stock but I couldn't find any details of who people used (successfully).

Apologies if this should have been posted in the AA forum but I weighed up the pros and cons and came out on this side of the fence (just!).

I don't think I've heard of anyone doing so successfully either. Of course you always have the option of getting the ticket reissued at an AA office somewhere en route between CMB and NRT. Of course you'd have to get it issued with the wrong routing initially so that there would be an excuse for the reissue, and it would cost you US$125.

Doesn't it just have to be an AA flight operated by AA?

Not according to what I've read on FT and also confirmed by an AA EXP agent. It has to be on AA stock.

If anyone knows differently from experience I'd love to hear about it. It would make it much easier for me!

I think it will be tough to get it issued on AA stock as the AA GSA in CMB, if there is one, will probably never heard of xDONEx fares. :rolleyes:

If you really want AA stock, getting it issued by CX, then reissued by AA will be your best bet.

How about that. First time I hear it, and I have redeemed a ton of eVIPs!... always on AA stock though so that explains why the issue never came up. Live and learn. Thanks!

From the description of the office, I think it is the one near Hilton, right by the port. The same agency who serves as the GSA for like 10 airlines. It is a large office subdivided into smaller lots to serve different airlines. Learn something new everyday. :p

Hmm, I wonder why they only issue 1 RTW per year? I would have thought others would be interested in starting from CMB on AA stock, given the eVIP restrictions. I'm now contemplating:

1. Give it a go ex CMB on AA stock
2. Use my tried and tested ex CMB with CX (and fly CX D HKG-JFK rather than try for an upgrade to AA A NRT-JFK)
3. Try AA stock from New Zealand, given they're not that much more expensive post 1 Sept 06 - I'll need to think about the routing for this one though.

You probably already noticed the other thread on this subject, but just in case you did not... (added: Duh, I just saw your Sept 1 comment in the previous post - well I guess I failed that reading course again :eek: )

Please note that as of Sept 1 the savings will not be quite so good. Fares for a AONE4 in Srilanka will be going up on Sept 1 to aprroximately 5020£/11822 AUD. See this link for more info.

For an AONE4, that compares to 6949 £/16364 AUD ex-UK or 5749 £/13539 AUD ex-OZ. Still a good savings, although not nearly as substantial in Australia. As you say NZ, at 5417 £/12755 AUD, comes close and may be more convenient.

This is news to me. I am pretty sure that I upgraded an AA segment on a DONE4 ticket issued by BA in the past. It may be, however, that the ticket was reissued by AA first, but I don't think so. Can anyone confirm that the ticket must be on AA stock?

Can't confirm that it must be on AA stock, but I can confirm that it is not possible to use an eVIP over the phone when the ticket is on CX stock. I was however able to get the upgrade using an eVIP at the LHR Flagship Lounge, without the ticket being reissued.
