ONE itinerary

Hi,
Please could someone see if this is a valid Explorer 4-continent route.
LHR-BKK-CHC-overland-AKL-LIM-overland-CUZ-AQP-overland-VVI-EZE-overland-IGR-AEP-overland-EZE-MAD-CAI-overland-AMM-RAK-LHR.

Thanks!

Oops, wrong info before. Edited to say that it looks ok to me now.

tangoozled Jul 21, 2006 9:15 am

Just be aware that RJ is not available right now, but will be, sometime, probably by the time of your trip,... I guess you know that, however.

Yea, the trip would start at the end of Feb, so i think RJ should be a member by the time i would be in Amman.

There is no service VVI-EZE (or VVI-anywhere in South America).

Also, FYI RJ will need to join oneworld before you have your tickets issued (not before the start of travel) for AMM-RAK.

Nor BKK-CHC, or AKL-LIM, or others, so I think there are several implicit connections on the OP's itinerary. VVI-EZE would have to be done via SCL.

But (as I said in my previous post) there is no oneworld service from VVI to anywhere in South America. Not LIM or SCL, only MIA.

Unfortunately the connections have to be considered in deciding whether it is a valid routing as they count towards the segment limit. It looks like more than 4 segments are needed in SA -- 2 can be bought for a fee -- but more than 6 is not allowed under any circumstance. So the routing has to be worked out before it can be checked for validity. This one is borderline.

Agreed, but I count 4 segments in SA. Where is the one or two I'm missing?

tangoozled Jul 21, 2006 10:57 am

Ok, sorry forgot to put in specific connections. I think the route would look like this:
LHR-BKK-(via SYD)-CHC-overland-AKL-(via SCL)-LIM-overland-CUZ-AQP-overland-VVI-(via SCL)-EZE-overland-IGR-AEP-overland-EZE-MAD-CAI-overland-AMM-(via MAD assuming RJ is member)-RAK-LHR.
I think this means that I only have 4 flight segments within S. America which should be ok. Feel free to correct me!

tangoozled Jul 21, 2006 11:01 am

Oops-just realised that because of change at SCL between AKL and LIM, S.America actually has 5 segments. I'll get rid of CUZ-AQP and just overland everything between LIM and VVI.

Oops, sorry, you are right. I was looking in the May version of the oneworld timetable, which didn't have it.

I count 5 SA segments then:

SCL-LIM
CUZ-AQP
VVI-SCL
SCL-EZE
IGR-AEP
