Do we need an RTW update?

SanDiego 1K emailed me this morning for an ex-CMB update... have we had another change? I honestly don't follow that closely but am happy to do another mass update if needed for the OWE, GlobEx and Circle fares.

I have just had a DONE4 quoted from CMB and there had been no price change.

Cheers

No change for AONE3 as of 18 June. But if anyone has access to the star file a general update is always welcome. PM me if I can offer any mechanical help.

Perhaps what we need is an update and clean up of the sticky threads. Much of what is listed there is obsolete creating some unnecessary threads/posts.

A new Circle Pacific update is definitely needed and much appreciated!

I've just gone thru and deleted perhaps 2/3s of the posts in the sticky thread on pricing. Have a look, and see if it functions better for you now. You'll find WearyBizTraveler's Excel price sheet link in that thread. Please continue to add new price information to that sticky.

Can a link to WearyBizTrvlr's great spreadsheet be put in the first post? Would make it easier to find.

Agreed. Better still, and with all due respect to the OP's original work, a non-maintained price list is worse than useless, so I would suggest the GBP price list be deleted, and a short explanatory note left in its place.

I have now done this - and am wondering if everything in that thread in advance of his latest post, http://flyertalk.com/forum/showpost....9&postcount=34, should be deleted. Opinions?

OTOH, some obfuscation can be good. It forces people to be interested enough to do thorough reading if planning a RTW trip. Additionally, a downside of making things too explicit is that people who don't bother doing the research will just apply steps 1,2,3 and then complain because of semi-spurious reasons. This forum is of a much different nature to others, most of the people here know their stuff :) - I hope that it doesn't get "dumbed down". Finally, I worry that the airlines will change more things if too many people start doing some of the things here - the latest example of this is the demise of CAI as a RTW startpoint. Techniques here aren't scalable to every traveller in the world unfortunately.

.........dupe post

If they were just plain threads I'd say leave them as they are and make the searchers do a bit of work, but the thread in question is a sticky which, together with the FAQ thread, is viewed by many as the OWE "Bible". If we say to newbies "read the stickies and then come back" the least we should do is to keep such reference threads free of obsolete and misleading information.

I've cut more posts from the sticky

OK, I got more aggressive and moved out still more posts. However, I left in some of the discussion of the past 6 months, as it is useful to see the impact of taxes on ticket prices, as well as some of the price movement.
