SGN on DCIR22

Hi team,

Have to go to Ho Chi Minh city in November. Now there's a rule in DCIR about "no Hanoi", but Ho Chi Minh (SGN) seems legal on CX.

Q1. Is SGN legal on DCIR22?

Q2. If Q1 is "yes", how to get to/from SGN from either BNE or SYD using DCIR22?

Much appreciated!

The Global Explorer fare allows travel on QF codeshares operated by Air Vietnam. Not sure if the Circle Pacific rules are equally generous (historically they have lagged behind the GE product). The oneworld web site rules prohibit it (but maybe these are the current rules). On the face of it you have to do a GE and not DCIRC22 fare (obviously considerably more expensive). I was actually thinking about CX - eg HKG-SGN. The difficulty seems to be "where next".

I'm not sure what you mean by a difficulty with "where next"? The fare allows 3 transfers per city, so you can just return to HKG, making it HKG-SGN-HKG. It seems clear that this is allowed (but not on the CX codeshare flight on Air Vietnam, but luckily CX does fly their own metal on this route). So what is the difficulty (presuming these are the real rules and not the rules as shown on the OW web site)?

Thank you...

How does this look?

SYD-HKG-SGN-HKG-SFO-LAX-BNE-SYD @ 21,322 miles?

Stopovers:

SGN
SFO
BNE

Not the "optimal", but works in with business commitments.

That seems fine. It took me a while to figure out what your concern was (that you couldn't return to HKG from SGN). As an aside this change in the rules was made in September 2005 -- so sometimes the rules do change in a favourable way. I don't really understand the reason for Hanoi still being banned, but it has something to do with the Vietnamese government. OW manages to get all the unique twists.
