Mauritius, anyone

I seem to have found a TA who's willing to give it a go. If anyone else cares, PM for the contact.

I'll be visiting relatives in Mauritius a bit later - not 100% sure of my dates but probably in early june. It's a pretty small island and I don't mind popping into a TA or asking around for a good one if that helps anyone.

Hi JohnAx

Now that there seems to be a concensus of opinion that the Romanian & Bulgarian fares will settle at the BA EUR levels , I am thinking about Mauritius as the starting point although that will mean 5 continents instead of 4 from OTP or SOF. Presume I could just set up the intinerary from the Uk with BA and inform them that I was starting in MRU & paying in Mauritian rupees. So do you really ned a TA in MRU? Turn up at the BA office at MRU and hand over the BA Amex?

What is the TA contact anyway please.

You thinking of doing an MU originator?

Regards

Colin

Hi,

Just returned from MRU a few weeks ago

I purchased am AONE directly from BA- i called them ahead of my arrival and they were fantatstic. Speak with Crsytal on + 230 202 8000

Alternatively, email them on [email protected]

interestingly, have done my initial flight, MRU-LHR, i thne continue RTW to US, Asia, Australi, then to SA, and oddly, threw in JNB-LHR-MRU in as well to get me to finish in MRU....

Good luck all...

You're welcome to try that. My opinion, gleaned from reading postings here, is that BA is suddenly quite hostile to that approach. I believe I read that BA North America recently quoted a traveler North American rates for an ex-IST trip he attempted to arrange that way, and I believe people who called BA in London with similar requests were told something like that. Look through the archives and decide what you think.

Why not just ticket it in canada at the ex-MRU rate? Isn't there an exception that allows canadian TAs to charge the fare of the originating country, not the ticketing country?

That exception was closed about four years ago.

Star and Skyteam still allow it, but as stated OW closed that loophole circa 2002. But the Star/Skyteam RTW fares are quite unattractive compared to OW, for the most part.

As there is currently no way of getting from JNB to MRU directly on OW, were the JNB-LHR & LHR-MRU sectors at the end of your trip with no stopover. If not, doesn't this mean two trips to Europe (which I thought was disallowed)?

All indications are that Comair will start MRU-JNB service in June.

One of the regular wizards - sorry I forgot who - reminded us in another thread that Africa origination allows termination anywhere in Africa.
That was hauteboy in the thread called xONEx ex MRU. Sorry I don't know how to link a specific thread.

I would be careful not to do a reissue. You have 2 entries into Europe, and MRU is not on the list of countries that allow 2 entries. And yes, you could just stop at JNB since one can end a xONEx anywhere in Africa if you start from Africa.

AONE5 ex MRU

Want to do AONE5 ex MRU and had the following routeing in mind:

MRU/LHR/EZE/SCL/IPC/IPC/SCL/AKL/SYD/PER/ADL/MEL/HKG/SIN/LHR/MRU

but it flouts the 1 intercontinental departure and arrival in Europe.

Can anyone suggest any innovative solution? Also have LHR/CAI secor in A left over from previous AONE 4 RTW.

paddingtonbear reported that he had finished in MRU by going to JNB and then to MRU via LHR (presumably without a stopover). He said that BA had issued this ticket RTW ticket even though it meant two trips to LHR.

I'm hoping he can let us know whether this was a mistake on BA's part, or whether they issued this because there is no other way of getting back to MRU on a OW.

I have the same problem, i.e. ending a previous AONE3 in CAI. I'm considering
(a) changing this ($125 fee) to end in DOH (Qatar), then
(b) doing a 2nd RTW from here (DOH), but ending in BAH.
(c) then taking the Emirates flight from BAH to MRU (fairly cheap) before
(d) starting a 3rd RTW (AONE4) in MRU.
