Iberia lounge facilities in LHR

Can't seem to find this info, either here or on Iberia.com.

Does the IB lounge in T2 at LHR have showers?

If not, I understand the alternatives (for a OW Emerald traveling AA J into LHR and IB Y out) are the BA Terraces/First lounge in T1 or the AA Arrivals Lounge in T3.
If doing the BA lounge, I assume one goes through the FCC to T2 -- is there a bus or is it a walk?
With respect to the AA Arrivals lounge -- once landside, how does one transfer from T3 to T2? Is that walkable or are there "mechanical" alternatives?

Thanks.

T1/T2 are joined (effectively the same building now) but with separate security for the UK domestic vs. international parts. Luckily for you the international part of T1 is nicer and connected to T2 (the usual LHR long walk). I've never used the IB lounge but the other lounges (other than BA) are abysmal and I doubt any have showers. All of the BA lounges do have showers (usually with no waiting at T1). You can walk from T3 to T1/T2, takes about 10 minutes at a brisk pace. As for getting to the BA lounge, there isn't one in T2 so you follow the signs to T1 if you are using the FCC. Just head for the BA First lounge (only in the international part of T1, which you should be able to access, but BA has been known to turn non-BA pax away without recourse -- probably best to use the AA arrivals lounge).

The IB lounge is pretty basic. Its ok for a short wait till. Keep your expectations low and don't expect anything BA/CX/QF like!

I will be happy to see T2 demolished!

Ugh. I guess I should have ticketed the LHR-BCN flight on the BA codeshare (operated by IB), it was the same price. Oh well, will do the AA Arrivals lounge if the plane is on time, just to be safe. Hopefully BAA will have sorted out the security issues by the end of the summer...

No doubt this is one of the reasons that BA is so strict about excluding non-BA pax from the lounges at LHR -- BA seems to codeshare on almost every OW flight and their lounges are the carrot/stick. They've concocted some imaginative rules to pre-empt the OW lounge access obligations.

As an EXP on AA you can use the BA F lounge in T1 for your trip on to spain, so I probably wouldn't bother with the AA lounge as I would say it is inferior to that of BA F lounge and even the BA Terraces now has a chef for food etc throughout the day, and it has showers etc....

Yes, but reports here are that BA frequently won't allow pax who aren't flying on BA into their lounges. I think the "out" they have must be that Lounge access may not be available due to capacity constraints during peak travel periods... from www.aa.com/oneworld, although i suppose you could raise a stink and ask them to prove that the lounge is at capacity until they relent and let you in...

I will be flying IB (marketed and operated), and don't want to risk getting shut out (shower is most important), so I'll just take the "sure thing" shower at the AA Arrivals lounge, then head over to the BA F lounge, and if they let me in they do, if not, no huge deal.

I have heard this before but from my experience the T1 F lounge is usually fairly empty so all should be well, Also the terraces beside is very nice, big and has in some people eyes, beter food than in the F lounge. Here is a link about the new lounge food etc. The showers are the same and are found in the MB spa, but as you say better safe than sorry therefore have one in the AA arivals lounge

The other (totally legal!) loophole BA can use to justify no-access here, is the BAA regulation that prevents pax from inter-terminal "hopping" and using facilities. The OP's IB flight leaves from T2, whereas the BA lounge is in T1.

Even though T1 <-> T2 can easily be walked airside in under 10 minutes, technically they are still separate terminals.

I've been denied access to the BA F lounge despite being QF Platinum (which has special access rights at LHR on BA, in theory same as BA Gold, and not the same as AA EXP) when not flying BA and having BAA terminal access rights. BA is doing a hard sell to force people to fly BA these days, and out of LHR BA thinks they have every route covered (so in their view the pax has no good reason not to be flying BA). The OW alliance is a bit shaky these days. BA was much easier about lounge access in past years, so just because it used to work doesn't mean you will get in this year (2006).

IMO it's only BA that are this way and it's not limited to LHR... it applies to many of their lounges. Not on a BA flight? Expect a fight. I've never had that issue with CX, AA, LA, etc etc.

Are you implying that if I am in fact willing to fight (perhaps bring a printout of the OW rules/brochure), they will relent? Or are the dragons un-slayable?

Well, considering that BA is clearly going against the OW policy, that's not all surprising. Obviously us AA flyers have discovered the oasis that is the CX lounge in T3 at LHR...

Depends on the dragon, the time of day, location of the lounge, phase of the moon, etc.

Wish they had one at LGW... the BA North lounge complex isn't bad but... not that great either.

.

You forgot to mention the ambient humidity, last month's ice cream sales in Brazil and the Singaporean bond yield as other factors that influence lounge acccess. To wit:

Last year at the lounge at HAJ (Hanover, Germany). I was on a KL flight back to AMS flying the KL's travesty of business class, so on top of Platinum status in Flying Poo I was entitled to lounge access on the basis of my ticket too. The lounge KL uses is also a BA Executive Club lounge, and a sign said you needed a KL invite to get in. Fine, I took out my BA Gold card, flashed it at the dragon under the Anytime Access rules for Golds, and she was ready to let me in. Just for the sake of completeness, she needed to swipe my boarding pass.

She stopped cold when she saw it was a KL boarding pass.

"You need an invite," she said (after already welcoming me in on the basis of my BA Gold card).

In her world, flying KL trumped the BA Gold status. So you can get in anytime with a BA Gold card, except when flying KLM, in which case you need an invite. We argued back and forth for a while, and in the end I just gave up, fetched an invite and came back.

My flight was also delayed by five hours.
