Please look over my *ONE3
Hello,
I'm want to max out miles and the time spent in true first class. We will be spending a week in yrr and would like to spend 2-3 days in sin and dub. CTS and DXB are added to use up segments and max out additional miles. At the end I will have to add a one way flight to get back home to hnl, so if anyone has any good ideas let me know. Later in the year we will have to fly to Tampa FL if that helps. Last question. From sin to lhr we have choice of cx or ba. Which is better? hnl-dfw-jfk-hkg-cts-hkg-sin-lhr-dxb-lhr-dub-lhr-yvr-dfw-ord-lax Thank in advance! Cinnywoo |
As you say you want max. miles out of it, with that in mind it sure would make sence to use the max. number allowed segments both in N.A. and in Asia.

Agree with above about maximizing your segements if you are after more miles.
Why not dfw-jfk-lax in the last part and sample AA's F transcon product and get some more miles along the way? As far as CX vs. BA? Obvioulsy you would need to add another segement to get you back to HKG to do CX (which then max's out the Asia sectors). You could do a search in various forum about this one and get a lot of different answers. I really like CX in F the service and meals are fabulous. Why not go with CX as you will be flying long haul with BA to YVR from LHR. You can then tell us which is better in your trip report ;) Just to throw another spanner (wrench) in the works. You could always try QF from either SIN or HKG as well. They are getting some pretty good write ups as well on various threads. If you are stopping over in LHR then one thing to consider is with BA & QF in F you will get access to the BA arrivals lounge at LHR. CX doesn't offer this type of facility at LHR |
Well, which do you want to maximize, miles or FC? You have a lhr-dub return that you can buy separately and use those segments for another return trip within Europe? Except for DUB-DXB's new service, all will be in euro-biz. True, EI's long haul biz does not compare with other's, but it sure is better than any other euro-biz service. And it adds lot of miles. Within Asia, there are longer HKG return flights, ie CMB and DPS. But, you can forgo some miles and fly CX FC HKG-NRT.

Presuming you are buying an AONE3 (based on your comments about maximizing the F experience), you only have 3 nice F sectors (CX JFK-HKG, BA/QF SIN-LHR and BA LHR-YVR). The BA LHR-DXB-LHR is often marginal as an F experience (short flight and shoddy food, poor lounge at DXB; quite a change from the old days when BA used to have a lavish F service on this route). You could consider a DONE4 which would let you get back to HNL at the end, by routing HNL-SYD-HKG-SIN-LHR-DXB-LHR-DUB-LHR-YVR-DFW-SJU-LAX-HNL, for example. You can add 7 more sectors, such as SYD-PER-ADL-AKL-HKG and DFW-ANC-DFW if you are flying during the summer (ANC service is seasonal on AA, basically june-september). I don't recommend doing this as an AONE4 as you miss the great CX trans-pacific service. After JL joins Oneworld you would have a lot more choices out of HNL. Too bad AA doesn't have an exception to the HNL travel restrictions for those originating in HNL, it isn't a very fair rule.
