DONE ticketing deadlines

The * file says DONE tickets with "origin in Area 1" must be ticketed at least 7 days prior to departure and tickets with "origin in Area 2/3" can be ticketed up to 1 hour before departure.

This appears to be the only place that 'areas' are mentioned, as opposed to the 6 continents. Can anyone clarify which continents are in which 'area'?

Leaving aside the 'risks' of trying to get a 20-segment DONE4 ticketed 1 hour before departure, it's obviously easier to get the ticket issued when you're physically at your starting point, rather than having to try and get it ticketed from afar.

Area 1 -- North & South America
Area 2 -- Europe/ME & Africa
Area 3 -- Asia & SWP

Many thanks - I guessed/assumed that it was most likely a "north/south" orientation/alignment of the continents. Is this documented anywhere (* file or elsewhere) that I should have found but missed?

They are IATA "areas" or "conferences." Here is a good description:

Why is it obviously easier? There is no difficulty getting tickets issued when overseas and having them sent by DHL . A lot easier than having to mess around picking up tickets and can save wasting days; e.g. I have booked ex BKK tickets, had them posted to oz and then can just book a separate oz-bkk and continue straight on to europe without having to stopover in BKK
