Istanbul BA Town Office Closing
 

I've been dealing with BA IST on a RTW and they advise their town office will close at the end of March 2006.

I can't say I'm terribly surprised given BA's limited service to IST.

I hope Ulya is accommodated within the BA system - she's a genuine gem. I would encourage any customers of the IST office to send commendation letters to the station for her excellent service. I know I will.

I know many FT'ers have picked up thier RTW tickets at the downtown office. I was instructed to do so for my April RTW. Do you know if we willl now be able to pick up tickets at the airport?

No worries, this is already possible as of today.

I'm sure this has been convered elsewhere but I'm in the middle of planning and this thread jumped out, so forgive me it that is so.

How much time to get the ticket issued at IST, can it be done on a turnaround trip on the 767 from LHR? And could I also get the BA IST email that was asked for in a recent DONE4 post?

I did a DONE4 ex IST last year, and having set up the ticket in advanced, and even had it issued by charge to my credit card (e-mailed scans of the card and my passport). All I had to do in IST was wait in line to get to the counter - at the counter the ticket was simply handed over to me.

I did AONE4 ex-Ist last month. I had alreay paid for the ticket and had my ticket finalized before picking it up at the airport. But since I made some last minute routing changes at the airport, the ticket had to be reissued. The whole thing (including reissue) took about 30 mins. They were very courteous and efficient at the BA counter in IST.

I tried to e-mail the IST office to reconfirm arrangement to pick up DONE4 tickets. Received the following automated response:

Subject: Telesales IST generic email address has been discontinued. Telesales IST jenerik eposta adresi kapatilmistir.

British Airways Telesales office in Istanbul has been closed down. This
service is now given by Flyline call centre in Bremen. Please call +90 212
317 6600, this line is rerouted by BA to Bremen.

Time will tell whether they will still be able to handle RTW arrangements/ticketing.
