Advice needed on AONE
Hi Frequent flyers ,
It is rainy in Christchurch , but I am sure 50 cent made a good impression? My question I am in the middle of planning my next RTW, to coincide with the cricket world cup, however I was wondering if anyone can better this Itinerary, especially around the mia-pos-mia. Hope this is not too confusing . My Itinerary is as follows . cai-lhr-syd-per-adl-akl-adl,syd-hkg-jfk-scl-eze-gru-jfk-bgi-jfk-mia-pos-mia-lax-lhr-dxb. Thanks ahead for any advice Elo |

What ffp will you be crediting the miles to? What is your status at the start of the RTW ? Are you trying to get or retain status ? Yours is a valid intinerary, however A (first) will not be available on many routes. eg syd-per-adl-akl-adl 1: CAI-LHR: 1st of 4 (Europe) 2: LHR-SYD: intercontinental 3: SYD-PER: 1st of 4 (Southwest Pacific) 4: PER-ADL: 2nd of 4 (Southwest Pacific) 5: ADL-AKL: 3rd of 4 (Southwest Pacific) 6: AKL-ADL: 4th of 4 (Southwest Pacific) 7: SYD-HKG: intercontinental 8: HKG-JFK: intercontinental 9: JFK-SCL: intercontinental 10: SCL-EZE: 1st of 4 (South America) 11: EZE-GRU: 2nd of 4 (South America) 12: GRU-JFK: intercontinental 13: JFK-BGI: 1st of 6 (North America) 14: BGI-JFK: 2nd of 6 (North America) 15: JFK-MIA: 3rd of 6 (North America) 16: MIA-POS: 4th of 6 (North America) 17: POS-MIA: 5th of 6 (North America) 18: MIA-LAX: 1st of 1 (North America Transcon) *18: MIA-LAX: 6th of 6 (North America) 19: LAX-LHR: intercontinental 20: LHR-DXB: 2nd of 4 (Europe) Congratulations!! Valid itinerary!!! - (64253 miles) |
The price of AONE ex CAI have gone through the roof recently. You might want to see if IST is better for you.

I will be BA gold by the time I finish my first AONE, so it will be more to retain my status in someway , but also the fact I have a taste for flying first class , when it is this reasonable, plus the fact I am looking forward to the cricket world cup. Another thought sprang to mind , Maybe I should do a DONE and just upgrade my hkg-jfk ,as I have never flown 1st on CX metal before , hoping all the above is not too confusing ELo |

I believe that the star file actually mentions upgrading AA sectors as permitted. No specific mention of over airlines other than the generic, can't be done.
|
I have upgraded CX segments of DONE3s using AsiaMiles on a number of occasions.
|
I think while it wasn't stated that clearly in the starfiles...when it says you cannot upgrade individual segments...it actually just means you cannot upgrade individual segments "with cash" (i.e. you cannot buy a DOWE and then say you want to pay extra to get one segment in A)...you are of course free to upgrade inidividual segments with miles according to rules of individual FFPs...
