carribean and oneworld
Hi Frequent flyers I am sure most of you are now back at work,after a good holiday?.
My Question is that the cricket world cup is been held in the carribean in 2007. I would like as part of my second AONE, some advice on how to cover POS and BGI, also bearing in mind I will be travelling from Australia. Any Advice greatly received ELO, |
In terms of getting there in the first place, BA fly from LHR-BGI, which I think has an F cabin. AA fly MIA to both BGI and POS. AA also offer 'direct' flights to/from other places, but they are very much a moveable feast and tend to go via MIA.
Getting between the 2 on an xONEx involves going via either MIA or SJU. Whichever option you take it seems a waste of 2 sectors. I'd suspect you might be better booking something on one of the local carriers. The biggest problem at this stage is dates - the airline schedules certainly won't have been firmed up yet. And do you know what dates you want to be in each of the places - have the fixtures been arranged yet? |

The fixtures have been arranged , but as you rightly pointed out, the airline schedules are not finalised yet, however I am hoping there will be extra flights , due to the popularity of the event been held in the carribean. I'm not sure about the extra flights in terms of OW - I can see a extra flights being put on around the islands - but I can hardly imagine masses of Americans going to watch cricket!
If you can get your match tickets sorted in the next few months, so that your dates are set, you'll have plenty of time to sort out the flights. If you're set on doing your RTW in F think about starting somewhere in Asia (CMB, BKK) as you should save yourself a fair few $$$$ And taking teh 'from Oz' to mean you're an Aussie - don;t worry about tickets to the final. That'll be the black caps and England. :) |
Big question is what bets are you taking on the finals - particularly the Super8s

I must also point out that I am from London, and I must apologise for not making that clear in my original thread? I start my second AONE from CAI,and as I will be in Aussie for the Ashes I thought I would head out for the ICC world cup from there , however, as your advice states , there is no F , so my quandry is it it worth doing a AONE or a DONE. Time will tell. I wonder what the bet would be on the Black Cats and England , making the final ? a bit like the football or Soccer for the benefit of the Australian audience , like who would of thought that Greece and Portugal would contest the 2004 European championship. I am not taking any bets, however it is likely to be Australia in the final , and depending on the the way the semis work out after the super 8s your guess is as good as mine ELO |

For both BGI has a non-stop daily flight from JFK, and for POS one of the ex MIA flights tends to start in JFK... both a nice number of miles at just over 2000. Fly QF SYD-JFK and connect, fit the West Indies into the middle of North America, or tack it onto the end and exit North America on the BGI-LGW flight. Which option depends on how much mileage running are you incorporating into the ticket - are you aiming for a nice long LAX-LHR over the Atlantic? In terms of getting around the islands - I really think you're going to be buying some tickets outwith your xONEx. And as to the final - I'd guess Australia will be there. But thinking you were from down under, and speaking as a Brit, I could hardly say that could I! :) |
