2 NA Transcons on My AONE5?

FWIW, I'm in the middle of an AONE5 ex-CMB right now. I had to make some changes, and I've already used my CX YVR JFK leg. I'll be on SCL JFK on 2/19 arriving 2/20 and the next QF 108 flight is on 2/22. So they routed me JFK LAX on AA 181 connecting to QF operated AA 7364 to SYD. So that gives me to NA transcons -- don't know whether this violates the rules but it's ticketed now...

Also FWIW, I used the validator tool and it said my new itinerary violated the rule...

It is not allowed by the rules. However, since you have gotten it ticketed ..... :D You may want to avoid rerouting under any circumstances. ;)

Definitely. I have it ticketed and all the flights booked. 39k BIS miles in February. ^

I'm assuming you know that you wouldn't be violating the rule if you booked JFK-SYD on QF 108 as a direct flight, but I'm guessing you don't want a 2-day layover in New York. :(
And you also probably know that routing JFK-LAX-SYD eats up an extra segment, not sure if you were pushing the 20 segment limit or 4/6 in N.A.
And lastly, how were you able to get A inventory on JFK-LAX?!?

I'm not sure that this follows...I'd have thought the reason was that AA "found" an A seat somehow. Coupled with the supposedly illegal routing, maybe AA were bending over backwards to help for some reason?

They wouldn't allow me the 2 day layover in NYC because I'm coming from SCL and if I didn't transit JFK within 24 hours I would have a backtracking violation. I would rather take QF108...

Yes, it's a pity to lose that segment. On the bright side, I'm taking the LAN flight SYD-AKL-SYD in first on the A340... :)
