Novice - RTW Biz-class
 

Looking for some sites that would help me plan a RTW trip for 2007 - flying Biz-class - I'm AA-Advantage member and would to build up as many miles with them. So if one could give me some tips please lol

We'd be flying from London and these are some of the places we'd like to visit. Mumbi/Delhi / Hong Kong / Singapore / Aus / NZ / A stop in the pacific / LA and then home.

And presently you will have noticed that the UK is not the most effective place to start your RTW - much higher priced than other European purchase/start points - CAI, IST, maybe some of the eastern European countries like Bulgaria or Croatia, etc.

I've tried reading the 2 threads - but i'm more confused now :rolleyes:

Can someome tell - if i use oneworld carriers will the miles go into my AA A-Advantage account ?

And when booking flights show i look to book AA flights when i can ? is there any site where i can find code share routes?

Yes, you can credit all your OW miles to AAdvantage, no matter where you book, just give the airline/agent handling your reservation your FF number and that's it. Do, however, follow up by checking afterwards that the number has been properly recorded.

Be aware that BA and QF have higher fuel surcharges than AA on the same base fare. If you are taking AA on one of your transoceanic sectors, I encourage you to book on them.

Well i was hoping to use AA from Lax via NY to London. So i'll give AA ring.


Anyone have a rough idea how much a RTW ticket would cost in Biz-class?

You will find prices in a sticky at the top of the forum. I don't think you've said how many continents you are considering. Business class are D fares; if you are going to 3 continents, it will be DONE3, DONE4 for 4 continents, etc.

These prices were valid a year ago, and in British pounds for DONE4 tickets:

USA £3,975
Thailand £2,887
Turkey £2,685

etc etc etc etc

Other people have put together spreadsheets with more recent fares. Those are the base fares before taxes and surcharges are added. Of course, if you start outside your home country, you need to add in your cost to get to the originating airport.

Read the stickies; there is a great wealth of information offered there.

As a tip think about starting the trip somewhere other than the UK - it's a very expensive place to start a xONEX (A OneWorld RTW ticket) in business class. It takes a bit of effort in terms of e-mailing places like Croatia or Egypt but well worth the hassle to save yourself a tidy sum.

In terms of routing an xONEx isn't the best for the Pacific - it only offers Hawaii, and then only as a stop between Oz and Ameriva (or v.v.). If you want to visit one of the other Islands then the best advice may be to do a sidetrip from NZ on a seperate ticket.

For fares, again, read the sticky - all of it; they change and there are lots of ins and outs.

That said, I think WearyBizTrvlr's wonderful Excel spreadsheet is still pretty definitive.
