Status Honour?
 

I am considering changing my membership as a *A Gold Card holder and switching to OneWorld. Is there any member that will honour my top-tier status for the 1st year?

AA will let you do the Platinum Challenge. Check the AA board for details on that. That's what I did, when I took my first OneWorld RTW. I had top tier status on UA, but wanted max miles from the RTW. I got my platinum status very quickly, and then got 100% bonus miles from then on.

Top tier? No, I doubt it. Even UA won't give top tier to a top tier on a Oneworld carrier.

The OP hasn't identified his *Alliance program. Gold status might be top tier on one carrier, as they don't have as many tiers, which mid tier on UA (for instance). Both PremEx and 1Ks are Gold.

And Darren is absolutely correct that OneWorld will not comp top tier such as Executive Platinum on AA. In fact, AA rarely comps mid tier - platinum - but does offer the challenge, a fast track way to reach it.

I've scanned this long running thread on status matches; it says BA does not status match. You might take a look at it to see if any gems are buried within.
