does an open-jaw count as a stopover on a OW AAward
I'm trying to piece together a last-minute OW award using my AA miles and was wondering if an open-jaw counts as a stopover in either of the airports on both sides of the open-jaw?
I've looked through the very valuable sticky covering OW awards on this forum but couldn't find an exact answer. For example, consider the following routing (not including valid connections): DFW-SFO-JFK-(stopover in JFK)-CPT-(stopover in CPT)-JFK(open jaw return to DFW). Does the open jaw include JFK as a stopover (thus invalidating the routing since I already have a JFK stopover)? Thanks much, FlyerBeek |
From Section 4(5) of the sticky:

DFW (start of itinerary) - LAX - SYD - PER - MEL - HKG - LAX (end of itinerary) No stopover in LAX upon arrival from DFW would be allowed. The one allowed stopover in LAX would occur at the end of the itinerary. |
I stand corrected! Thanks for the help Austinrunner.
