Is this valid LONE4 or DONE4

Is this valid? LONE4 or DONE4

1: SAN-STL: 1st of 6 (North America) [24 hr]
2: STL-DFW: 2nd of 6 (North America) [stopover]
3: DFW-NRT: intercontinental
4: NRT-HKG: 1st of 4 (Asia)
5: HKG-BKK: 2nd of 4 (Asia)
6: BKK-SYD: intercontinental
7: SYD-CHC: 1st of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
8: CHC-AKL: 2nd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
9: AKL-BNE: 3rd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
10: BNE-SYD: 4th of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
11: SYD-LHR: intercontinental [going thorugh ASIA again]

Buy a LHR-USA-LHR ticket here for rest in USA

12: LHR-TLV: 1st of 4 (Europe)
13: TLV-MAD: 2nd of 4 (Europe)
14: MAD-ATH: 3rd of 4 (Europe) [Going to TLV and ATH]
15: ATH-LHR: 4th of 4 (Europe)
16: LHR-DFW: intercontinental [stop over]
17: DFW-STL: 3rd of 6 (North America) [24 hr]
18: STL-SAN: 4th of 6 (North America)
Congratulations!! Valid itinerary!!! - (44614 miles)

Potential problems:
24 hour stopovers in STL
Going through Asia twice
Going to TLV and ATH
Buying a ticket LHR-USA-LHR...I don't think rest violates any of the rules

Any suggestions?

Jerry_Maguire Sep 10, 2005 3:22 pm

I think you are OK provided your "transits" through STL are LESS than 24 hours, not more.

The transit through Asia a second time is OK as you describe it - a through transit without stopover between SWP and EUR.

And no problem to break the XONEX with a seperate RT ticket home - that is the way most of us get maximum travel out of our RTW tickets.

Finally, I don't think the 4 EUR sectors you propose violate any rules, though I am not familar with the flight schedules on these routes.

Looks valid to me.

-Connection (<24) in STL is just a matter of finding the flights.
-Asia twice is ok, because second time is SYD-LHR direct.
-TLV + ATH no problem with IB.
-Extra ticket LHR-USA.LHR no problem.

Any suggestions?
If time allows add HKG-XXX-HKG, or DFW-XXX-DFW.

QUOTE: "If time allows add HKG-XXX-HKG, or DFW-XXX-DFW."

I understand HKG-XXX-HKG

However, DFW-XXX-DFW would need to be less than 24hrs since I already have 2 North American stopovers .... right?

Plus I need to stay under 20 segments ... right?

Viajero Sep 10, 2005 3:31 pm

Correct, DFW-XXX-DFW needs to be <24, and yes, 20 segments max.

Start DONE4 in Asia ?

From you other posts over the last 6 - 12 months I assume you have several RTW's on the go at once and several of these over the next few years.

Have you considered starting a DONE4 in BKK? Much cheaper than starting in USA or NZ. AKL-BKK is not that expensive. Starting in BKK gives you the advantage of 6 stop overs in USA (as against 2 if you start a DONE4 in USA). You could easily have 2 or more DONE4's on the go at the same time (both the direction or one clockwise and the other counterclockwise)

Actually, I am helping someone else with this one :) I want to make sure I don't misguide them.

From the One World Explorer Ticket FAQ's thread (sticky at the top of the page):

ONE or OWE = oneworld Explorer ticket
DONE4 = D class (business class) oneworld Explorer ticket for 4 continents. The initial letter is A, D or L depending on whether it is First, Bus. or Economy, and the final number is the number of continents, 3-6 (sometimes a * is used to indicate a generic question/response, eg. *ONE4 or *ONE*)

Watch out for SYD-CHC leg. Most of these flights are being converted from QF mainline to Jetstar.

New version

1: SAN-LAX: 1st of 6 (North America)
2: LAX-HKG: intercontinental
3: HKG-KIX: 1st of 4 (Asia)
4: NRT-HKG: 2nd of 4 (Asia)
5: HKG-BKK: 3rd of 4 (Asia)
6: BKK-SIN: 4th of 4 (Asia)
7: SIN-SYD: intercontinental
8: SYD-AKL: 1st of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
9: AKL-CHC: 2nd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
10: CHC-SYD: 3rd of 4 (Southwest Pacific)
11: SYD-LHR: intercontinental
12: LHR-TLV: 1st of 4 (Europe)
13: TLV-MAD: 2nd of 4 (Europe)
14: MAD-ATH: 3rd of 4 (Europe)
15: ATH-LHR: 4th of 4 (Europe)
16: LGW-DFW: intercontinental
17: DFW-MIA: 2nd of 6 (North America)
18 Miami-El Salvador 3 of 6
19 El Salvador-Miami 4 of 6
20: MIA-DFW: 5 of 6 (North America)

Is this valid.

Concerns:
1) the ticket validator did not the addition of El Salvador as a north American city.
2) It seems that there are single flight numbers LHR-TLV-MAD-ATH, but I know these are not non-stops. We are at the 20 limit.

Thanks!

Jerry_Maguire Sep 13, 2005 2:57 pm

Flights with a single flight number, even if they make 1 or more stops, are OK for a single coupon on a RTW flight.

Well there area couple problems with this. The first is, which El Salvador? The oneworld timetable only lists El Salvador, Chile which would not be in NA.

The other problem is that once you reenter the county from which you departed, you cannot leave again. For these purposes Canada and the US are considered the same country. Since you left the US and then reentered from LGW, you are not allowed exit the country again.

So if you were talking about the city San Salvador in the country of El Salvador, which I suspect you might be, then this too would not be allowed unless you can get there without entering the US which is not possible as best I can tell. Now you can't go there, but you could go from LHR to NAS, GCM, or MEX on BA, and a few other destinations like BGI and SLU I believe. Iberia flies from MAD or BCN to destinations in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Guatemala. I could not find a route map for Iberia so, without doing a lot of work, I don't actually know to which cities in these countries that they actually fly. Their web site listed these three NA countries in addition to the US.

OW flights from europe to north america not incl US & Canada

IB MAD-SJO/GUA/MEX/PTY/SJU (does PR count as US?)/SDQ, BCN-MEX

BA LON-ANU/BDA/BGI/GCM/GND/KIN/MEX/NAS/PLS/SLU/TAB
