Who do I complain to?

I posted before about a change to my oneworld 5 continent ticket. This charge was enforced (not exactly by choice) by the hurricane in new orleans and mississippi area as that was my route across america.

Now the company I booked with (STA Travel) say I am liable for costs in changing the ticket routing, even though I have standard insurance with them (had I had the colosally overpriced premium insurance I'd have been able to claim back the costs.)

To cut a long story short, do I complain direct to the travel company, or is there an address (email or snail mail) who I can complain to.

I know the airline didn't enforce these changes to my trip - I chose against going to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Area, due to there being not much left there after the tragedy.

I mean, it';s hardly my fault there was a hurricane, is it?!

Ideas please!!! By the way this penalty fee is $75 admin for airline and around $30 admin for my travel company. Changes in tax will need to be covered too - which I totally understand, but the other bit is a tad harsh!!!

I thought you were going to say 75 GBP!

75 USD is not too bad for a change fee. In fact I think that is now the standard fee for a OWE fare. Many OW carriers charge an extra fee on top of this fee.

Good luck with getting it through your travel insurance - IMHO it is not worth the effort as I am sure the excess will probably be around the same as the change fee.

Well for one thing, there are no flights going in to MSY.

It all depends on when you had intended on going to MSY originally. But you may try getting in touch with AA directly (they have an office in SYD) who flies there... and telling them that it isn't going to be much point going there now...

They *MAY* reroute your ticket without the reissue fee.

There is a very specific policy by AA on refunds, cancellations and changes:

http://www.aa.com/apps/netSAAver/Vie...omotionContent

You may want to read it and see how it applies to your itinerary. If you were elegible for a free change under this policy, sounds like its time for a new TA. ;)
