DONE4 ex BKK

Hi There,

I just discovered from my friend that DONE4 prices are cheaper ex BKK.
Just wondering is it better to book through a local travel agent there or just through a BKK Oneworld Ticket office (CX/AA etc..)

Also for the 2 stopovers that are permitted in the cont of origin, does that include the final stop where the ticket ends (ie. Can I do the following:

BKK-HKGx-USA...etc-HKG-NRT-HKGx-BKK

x denotes stopover

It is even cheaper to start a DONE4 journey from CMB.

Welcome to FT oneworldboeing.

But this top about where and what to do.. has been discussed many many times before. Please do a search by clicking on the upper right hand corner of your screen and you'll find all your answers you need.

There is no diff to book through airlines direct or travel agents though the latter might offer you a small discount.

Yes it's even cheaper than BKK if you start from CMB. But you'd have to get a ticket to CMB to begin with.

For your routing.. you can only stop over twice not including origin.

this looks ok to me...so that means you are stopping twice in HKG, and the HKG-NRT-HKG flights are pure mileage run with <24 hours in NRT, right ?

Er, no, I read it to mean that he will stopover in HK on returning from Europe (or Australia or Africa, depending on which the fourth continent is), and then in Narita. The two other visits to HKG being transits.

But either way it looks OK.

wow! I didn't expect a response (or responses) so quick. Thankyou all.

I am thinking of going from Europe straight to Australia (via HKG but not stopover) and then go back to HKG (stop) and then to NRT or CTS (Stop) and then head back to BKK (transit in HKG)

I know that CMB is cheaper but I don't know anyone there and the net benefit is not that good when you throw in the ticket to CMB and the associated time it requires to do the turnaround (from HKG)

I am comtemplating in upgrading to an AONE4 but really can't see the benefit as so many routes are now 2 Class and in the USA I get to be in "A" Class for most of the flights (despite it is AA).

I would do the First class... you get F for BKK-HKG-<USA gateway>... <USA-Europe>... LHR/CDG/FRA- HKG-SYD/MEL... MEL/.SYD-HKG-NRT-HKG-BKK

That's at least 9 out of your 20 segments; over 70 hours in-seat time. More if you do DXB or CAI in Europe.

No doubt in my mind that the extra would be worth it.

Having said that, Thailand is not such good value for AONE as it is for DONE, it is quite a big step up. But even then it is only an extra US$30 per hour for F, and I reckon I could almost cover that in Krug, Tignanello, caviar, and kaiseki, never mind the extra space and comfort.

I think it is around 2000USD more expensive. Actually your point is quite valid as if I wanted to upgrade the individual sectors it will definitely cost more.

However I might have to re-plan the AKL sector as I wanted to go with CX from HKG-AKL, but given it is now a 2 class service. Possible to change it to just HKG-SYD/MEL-AKL, but that would mean wasting a coupon.

Need to think....

But thanks for all your help
