Does this involve a change fee on AONE RTW?
I want to change from lax-bos on AA to lax-jfk-bos. I have a paper ticket with one segment lax-bos. When I go to the ticket counter for lax-jfk-bos 60 minute connection in njfk), should I expect a change fee?

If you show up with the ticket without being previously reissued or authorized, you should expect both a reissue and an aneurism on the part of the agent.
If youre doing the JFK thing because of wanting to go on the 762, you might want to check out a thread in the AA forum stating that the 762 is back on the schedule of the LAX-BOS route. I didn't look closely at it but what I saw it appears that it's being sold as three class. |
You will be adding a segment to your trip. You'll need to still be within your 6 NA segments and 20 total for the ticket when you make this change. You also might have additional taxes/fees.

It is a hand written paper ticket? If yes and if you arrive at LAX sixty minutes prior to the flight, you will most probably miss the flight.
IME, agents at LAX don't like dealing with RTW re-issues even when all they have to do is print the ticket and collect the change fee. It becomes a lot worse when they have to hand write a paper ticket. Call the RTW desk to make all the necessary routing changes, re-calculate the taxes, etc, before you arrive at the airport. This will help save time and help reduce the number of problems you (might) run into. |

Yes, but if nologic already has an assigned seat in the F cabin on flight 222 departing after October 29, 2005, then he should still have a seat in the F cabin of the 762 whose service commences October 30, 2005. I may be wrong, but I don't think AA will downgrade an A fare out of the F cabin if they made a change in metal. Now, if nologic is not already booked on that flight then that is another issue.

Well, no good news on the nonstop front: on Aug 5th (this Friday), AA's two afternoon flights from LAX-BOS are 737-800's. So, I'm OK going LAX-JFK-BOS.
I am within my 6 segments. I called CX (thru whom I bought the ticket) and had them book the seat in A. I have a paper ticket with two segments remaining (LAX-BOS and BOS-MIA, and I have one stopover and 3 segments left in my "allocation". I was just hoping that since I am a still going LAX-BOS, but routing thru JFK on an official connection instead of going non-stop, that this wouldn't be considered the type of change that incurs a fee. Whom do I call to prepare for the reissue: AA RTW or CX? |

Whom do I call to prepare for the reissue: AA RTW or CX? You could call either AA or CX. However, you will need to get the re-issue done by the airline you call. It will be easier/quicker to call CX since they already have your complete original routing. If you call AA, you will need to start from stratch so that they can re-create the whole itinerary before re-issuing the ticket. |
