Best Valid xONEx N/A six sector routing?

Arrive/Depart LAX/JFK

For Distance/Miles...

wandering_fred Jun 28, 2005 1:51 am

There are some obvious seasonalities in the schedules and the timings
on the flights may require unwanted overnights but the AA flights do exist....
My only question was SJO-JFK but I didn't see it on the FAQ list.

LAX
SJU 3380
DFW 2160
ANC 3030
DFW 3030
SJO 1780
JFK 2210

Total 15590

Happy wanderings

Which FF program are you using?

I'll assume AA for the time being. In terms of status points, AA makes no distinction b/w F and J (although J earns 1.25 v. 1.5 miles). As such, I like doing Carribbean routes from JFK. JFK-BGI is a hair over 2000 miles and JFK-AUA is just over 1900 miles. Of course, if the season is right, DFW-ANC is a good option.

Perhaps something like this:

LAX-JFK
JFK-SJU
SJU-DFW
DFW-ANC
ANC-DFW
DFW-JFK

Or:

LAX-SJO
SJO-LAX
LAX-JFK
JFK-BGI
BGI-MIA
MIA-JFK

Or:

JFK-AUA
AUA-JFK
JFK-BGI
BGI-MIA
MIA-JFK
JFK-LAX

OP is looking for credit to QF (I think), so aim is 2-class F flights, over 2400 miles if possible (extra status credits).

I note that most of the flights I listed above (SJU SJO) will be in D class not A, as the first class designation is limited to the US states.

AFAIK SJO and ANC flights on AA are in different seasons (winter for SJO and summer for ANC). Is there any overlap?

Gardyloo Jun 28, 2005 9:03 pm

With the new OW electronic timetable there's no way to see all nonstop flights to/from a place over a date range (unlike the old one) but last year LAX-SJO was indeed seasonal with no overlap to the ANC service (codeshared with LACSA off-season.)

By putting a simple RTW with 6 NA segments MEL-LAX-JFK-SJU-DFW-ANC-DFW-JFK-LHR-MEL in the Oneworld validator can easly get the miles and QF's SC (important for QF ffer's).
Need to check the time table (and for QFF which are codeshares) to determine when flights go

Unfortunatly, the xONEx validator is rejecting both DFW-ANC and LAX-SJO. This is incorrect.

e.g. The former I can book for next month and the latter for April next year.

serfty Jun 28, 2005 11:53 pm

thankyou

Ok, Thanks people for your help. With Kiwi Flyer's assistance last month, I had the following routing (for early April): JFK-SJU-LAX-SJO-LAX-SAL-LAX. This gives 15,082 mile and 540 QF SC's. On a pure MR basis I could go: JFK-SJU-LAX-SJO-LAX-SJO-LAX and get 15,888/580.

Wandering Fred's routing gives 520 SC's, but may not be available to me in the one itinerary due to seasonal scheduling.

PresRDC's examples are 13694/540, 12713/540 & 11187/500.

All have interesting destinations and any routing giving 500 SC's or more is quite good.

(I'm looking to maximise SC's, miles are not as important. The bands for D class with QF are 0-600:40, 601-1200:60, 1201-2400:80, 2401-3600:100 etc.)

Kiwi Flyer Jun 28, 2005 11:57 pm

50% more SCs earned in first, so 1201-2400 in first is better than 2401-3600 in business; purely in terms of SCs.

wandering_fred Jun 29, 2005 1:10 am

Well the original question was miles and the class was not indicated.
And the answers will be different if the question were for QF SCs using a
AONEx versus a DONEx versus a LONEx

The best I can offer on a DONEx (for SCs) would actually be a great deal simpler.

LAX-DFW-BWI-DFW-BWI-DFW-JFK

All are 1200+ miles (just) thus each of the six segments on a DONEx will book in A class and credit as "First". Totaling 720 QFF SCs under the new rules

And it minimizes flying time.

Happy wandering

Apologies Wandering Fred, I should have indicated SC's in my original post! :o

You are correct; I have been advised that for SC's purposes it would be better to stick to flights offering F & Y only (no J). For exampley LAX-SJO is J & Y (no F) so nix to that. I may wait until DFW-ANC opens up next year where it becomes 150SC's each way. ^

You could try, JFK-AUA-SFO,RNO-JFK-LAX-SJO-LAX.
JFK-AUA 1951
AUA-SFO 3651
Amtrak/car-RNO
RNO-JFK 2411
JFK-LAX 2475
LAX-SJO 2722
SJO-LAX 2722
Total 15931 600SC if in D class

I'm not sure what flights are two class, unfortunately a few of these are NOT non-stop, and there is not meal. If you can start in BOS, then you will get a few more miles and a meal. Also leaving from LGA may get another A class flight.

I know this concept is shunned in this Forum, but you could always go to ANC to actually see the place -- well, at least the surrounding landscapes rather than the city itself. Plenty to do and see. AND, even though there is no AA lounge, you can always get the beers at the midnight sun brewery: http://www.wildales.com/ It's a pleasant distraction but a bit distant from the airport.
