Best Oneworld J Class seat - NOT BA!
Just saw this:
http://www.iberia.com/OneToOne/v3/program.do It seems IB have adopted the SAA seat (which is the best in the world. All forward facing, No angle, airbag, no herringbone layout and most importantly NO stupid Sliding effect!) Pity they don't fly to many intercontinental destinations. Has anyone being on this? What routes are they operating on? |

Don't get too excited until you have sat in it. It is no better than the QF seat and maybe a bit worse. BA is improving its J seating, but it is because of VS and not IB! As for availability, some but not all of the A346s have it and usually fly MAD-EZE. Other trans-Atlantic routes have a very small chance (maybe 5%) to get it. Only about 10% of IB's longhaul J seats are in the new format and the rollout will take until 2008. Newly delivered planes are being new-J equipped but the leased/retiring planes are not being converted.

The IB seat doesn't look like a fully flat seat in the picture.. more like the slant that you see on New Style Club ANA.

hopefully i'll be sitting/sleeping in one of these next month, and will let you know..

Recently did a Circle Pacific and for me the best was QF, followed by BA and then CX, but traveling alone I certainly would not like the forward/rear facing arrangement on BA. Who wants to stare right at some stranger and who wants to put up the devider to avoid doing this

It is the BA seat all the way for me (and I have not even flown in the New, or New New CW seat yet !) over the QF Sky Bin... lie flat with foot stool and your own space over slide down effect with your legs UNDER the seat in front, its no contest.
Will be interesting to see if the IB seat compares. Link in the OP isn't working by the way. |
The QF seat is actually pretty good in my opinion. There is a very slight tilt, but you don't slide down like on some others. Well thought out space and comfortable - especially when sleeping.
The BA seat is better for me when traveling alone. I leave the fan up except for meals and always get a window seat as it has maximum privacy. It's good for working, reading and especially sleeping since I use an autopap when I sleep (for sleep apnea) and the privacy keeps other pax from thinking I am on death's door when the mask is on! |
