Circle Explorer Fare
 

Sorry, I'm new here, so I don't have the lingo down yet.... I'm just wondering if the Circle Explorer fare is available everywhere (so you don't have to include ocean crossings), and if so, if anyone has the fares? I'm looking for the lowest fare, and I'm wondering if it's ex Eqypt, like the regular Explorer fare. Additionally, could you tell me the best way to go about getting the correct fare? Do I just contact a member airline and set up the itinerary, and get charged the correct price based on where I start/end?

I'm trying to plan a RTW next year, and if I can get the Circle Explorer ex Egypt I think I could really put together a great route.

Again, sorry if these are questions I could find the answers to, I tried some searching but couldn't find the answers.

Now, what about the other question... who do I contact to get the fare? Do I need to contact the local reservation desk for a member airline at my origin/destination? Or can I just call the main reservation number for any member airline? That's probably the most important question.

My understanding is that if: (1) you want to originate travel in Egypt; (2) you want the Egypt fare; and (3) the fare for originating travel in your home country is higher than the fare for originating travel in Egypt, then you'll have to buy the ticket in Egypt. Here is the relevant rule:

119N WHEN TRAVEL ORIGINATES IN A COUNTRY FOR WHICH A
120N SPECIFIED LOCAL CURRENCY FARE IS PUBLISHED AND TICKET
121N IS SOLD IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT MUST
122N BE THE FARE CONVERTED USING THE BSR OR THE FARE
123N APPLICABLE FOR ORIGIN IN THE COUNTRY OF SALE,
124N WHICHEVER IS HIGHER.

How someone outside of Egypt goes about purchasing a ticket in Egypt is a question that someone with greater expertise and experience will have to answer.

I see. But the Circle Explorer fare cannot originate in the U.S., as far as I can tell. Therefore, wouldn't I be able to get the converted rate from anywhere I want, since there is no applicable rate from the U.S. to compare it to?

My understanding is that AA would be able to sell you the ticket. One of the allowed ticket stocks is AA's. (The others are BA/CX/LA/QF/LP.) However, travel is good only on AY/BA/CX/EI/IB/QF/LA and their affiliates. (The oneworld website has information about these subjects that conflicts with the file that's downloadable from the QF website. I'm providing information from the QF file.)

But you've made a good observation about there being no published fare for USA origination because the ticket is not valid for travel to/from the USA. Therefore, there is nothing to which to compare the Egypt origination fare when buying the ticket in the USA.
