AA flight class configuration?
 

I'm planning a DONE4 & increase miles/SC's earned with the trip I am looking for two class AA flights for the North American sectors.

Are all AA domestic flights two class? Are there any three class AA flights I should be aware of?

Many of the LAX-JFK and a couple of the SFO-JFK flights are 3-class ops. That's about it. Note most Caribbean flights are 2-class, J and Y, not F and Y as in the US main line ops. You can check out what classes are sold on given flights easily here.

So be wary of the Transcons. I did a look JFK - LAX thru expertflyer and, yes, all had J class types along with F & Y. However, the sanme query also came up with some EWR - LAX options and none of these have any J class types; only F & Y.

For max SC's etc. would it be better to forgo the 20 miles or so in distance and travel via Newark if there are no A class NYC options??

I don't speak fluent SC, only Qpts. I do know I would look for 2-class 767s over 757s in all cases. Not all transcons are equal. Also think about SYD-HNL-ORD/DFW or v.v. if that works into your plans - I think those are the longest 2-class domestic services on 763s.

I don't speak SC either, but from a comfort perspective, you're much better off in J in a 3-class 762 than in F in a 2-class 757. 50" of pitch and legrests on 762; 38" of pitch on 757, though the 757 seat is a bit wider.
