First AONE3 - HKG?

I am planning to take my first AONE3 this summer. Any input on my itinerary?

DFW-HKG-PEK-MEL-SYD-DUB-CDG-LHR-DFW

Also, I am traveling alone. Any security concerns in Hong Kong?

Thanks!

None whatsoever. HKG is a very safe city.

Glad to hear that because I really want to go!

With a few changes, something along these lines, it should work, but note that if you wish to include Australia it _must_ be a AONE4.

DFW-LAX-HKG-PEK-HKG-MEL-SYD-LHR-DUB-CDG-LHR-DFW

Agree - HKG is a very safe city and the people are wonderful.

If you want a true adventure, just show up at the ferry port and hop on the next ferry. My friend and I planned to go to the island with the giant Buddah, but ended up on an island with a hiking trail from one end to the other. Got to see a part of HKG that very few foreigners see.

Also, don't forget to hit Stanley Market - good shopping.

Have a great time!

Dim Sum at City Hall

Dinner at Saikung Village (Seefood)

Hot Pot in one of the places in Kowloon City

Afternoon tee in the peninsula or HK Intercontinental
Day trip to Shenzen (train from TST, get visa at the boarder as long as you are not british (impossible to get visa there) or american (visa cost). Buy as many famous products as you can carry, but don't count on them beeing the real thing)

A few comments: looks like for some city combinations there are no OW flights. So you would likely end up with something like

DFW-LAX-HKG-PEK-HKG-MEL-SYD-HKG-LHR-DUB-LHR-CDG-LHR-DFW.
This is only 14 sectors out of 20.
You could add ANC in the US, India, NRT or Bali in Asia, DXB in Europe for many more miles. Do a search on this forum - many discussions about these options.

You can probably also do
SYD-FRA-DUB, if you wanted to avoid transit in LHR, but the flight schedule and connections probably aren't as good via FRA.

HKG is probably safer than DFW, if you ask me :p

Safe as houses over here - another on the long list of reasons why I'll never move back to the UK...

Tourist caveats? Hmm...
Avoid the camera/electronics shops in Tsim Sha Tsui - they're a rip-off by and large.
Err...and remember we drive on the wrong side of the road compared to our American cousins, so look right when crossing the road!!!

Enjoy ;)

That'll be "look right", surely?
