Holding / ticketing RTW's

I will be completing RTW in June in CAI, & starting another.
1) How long will AA RTW desk "hold" the reservation?
2) Can I still easily call EMECO in CAI and have them issue the ticket, and then pick up the day before travel?
3) Has anyone had experience with EMECO CAI ticketing over phone and then FedEx-ing ticket to USA?

Thanks.

When I recently did a booking with AA RTW (which never went into ticketing due to the WAW price increase last month) they put it on hold for a month. I would suppose they can be convinced to hold it even longer, if not, TAs should be able to do it. As far as normal tickets go, I often have TAs to keep bookings on hold for several months and I do not see any difference here with RWT tickets, they are still just normal tickets...

I am sure others can help you with your CAI specific issues as I have never done any business there.

1. I have had Emeco handle booking my ticket, so do not have experience with how long AA RTW will hold the ticket. Emeco has held it 3 months or so.

2. I use email with Emeco, which works very well. Yes, they will issue the ticket when you want and hold it for you to pick up.

3. I have ticketed with Emeco twice; I have not had them send the ticket to the States. On the other hand, if your itinerary qualifies for an e-ticket, there is no hard copy to FedEx. (My last ticket was still a paper ticket, as it has LAN segments.)

When I spoke with AA rtw the agent said that they usually hold the itin for 50% of the remaining time between creating the itin and intended departure -- when I did the sums it seemed to work out on a couple of itins I created. It's easy to extend it if you ask nicely, up to the minimum advanced purchase limit of course.

I did the FedEx thing with them a couple of years ago when they would still do it for free. Absolutely painless. Emeco seems quite professional, for a third-world agency.

I suppose it's needless to point out to this choir that rate quotes are only good for a couple of days (or so?) and chances are good that prices will increase if you wait too long to ticket, both from OW increases and the present administration's apparent bent on removing the USD from its position as the world's most dependable currency.

I made a reservation with AA RTW desk yesterday and it says held till 5/16. But there is no reason why that couldn't be extended. I only once encountered ticketing requirements - reserved with QF, but CX insisted they would need it ticketed by a certain date or the reservation would be cancelled. Not sure what that was all about?

You need to watch this as any airline on your itinerary can set their own ticketing deadline, and CX has been noteable for setting earlier deadlines than the ticketing carrier, and cancelling flights the moment their deadline is reached.

When I booked through BA IST two weeks ago, they were only willing to hold the booking for one week. The emailed reservation also noted the following:

18 SSR ADTK 1A ADV TKT NBR TO CX BY 02APR OR SUBJECT TO CANCEL

This booking was made on March 18, and CX gave them a two-week deadline for ticketing.

Thanks. Now I feel more comfortable. The E-Ticket option is a brilliant idea. I have 2 segments that require paper ticket (BKK-CMB & CMB-HKG on CX), so I may omit them just to ease initial ticketing, and then add back later and pay the $75.00 change fee. Or could leave segments in and ask Emeco to FedEx me the paper ticket when complete.

Anyone have Emeco's email address? I may try to call the guy who handled my ticketing there last year. But the e-ticket option makes the 11-pm BA arrival, and next morning 7:25am departure easier. No need to go into city to pick up paper ticket. Saves 1 day.

Thanks, guys. You are the best!!

I believe that CX can also be electronically ticketed. I'm quite sure that has been reported here. I have Emeco's email address, and will PM you. Also, should you need a paper ticket, Emeco will meet your flight and hand your ticket to you. There is no need to go into town.

I had an e-ticket issued in March by BA-CAI which included BA/QF/CX/AA segments. Presumably Emeco can do the same.
