Ways to pay BA

Is a credit card the only way you can pay BA for a RTW ticket? I'd expect BA in London to possibly accept Switch but what about BA in other countries such as Turkey?

I would assume it depends wether you're on site while they do the ticketing...cash is usually never rejected ;)

I believe most agencies will accept International Bank transfers. I seem to recall reading in some of the other threads of people sending over money by bank transfer to agencies in both WAW and IST.

Thanks guys. I must say a ITB would be favourite if it is possible. Can someone confirm that it is?

Paying for an international ticket in hard cash can get you into all sort of hassles at different stops around the world.

I think you mean IST (Istanbul). Technically BA are only able to accept credit cards issued in the country they are being used in e.g. Polish CC's in WAW, Turkish CC's in IST and British CC's in the UK. Some people report success in getting BA to accept UK cards in other countries but it soes vary. BA in Polans categorically stated I could not pay by CC and would have to send funds by International Money Order to their Bank. As messy and long winded procedure I was not happy about.

As Switch is now Maestro you may be able to use it.

The cost difference between IST and WAW is not that great. The problem with starting in IST is you are prevented from going to any Middle East country as IST is in the "no more than two flights between London and XXXXXXXX" rule. DXB, MCT, BAH, CAI are all good value long haul points and miles routes that would be denied to you by starting in IST.

It's been a long day. I have a hangover. Ignore me. :p

On my last AONE4 I did LHR-IST-LHR-DXB-LHR so I should have known that it is not an issue. Doh!

Did you do IST-xLHR-xDXB-xLHR-...? If so, may I ask what flights would you recommend?

My AONE4 was ex-JNB so I didn't have any stopover limitations in Europe. I did:-

...LAX-LHR-stopover-IST-stopover-LHR-stopover-DXB-stopover-LHR-CPT....

I can't remember the exact flight I took but I arrived in IST mid-afternoon and departed mid afternoon a couple of days later. I took the overnight flight out to DXB and the daytime flight back.

Going to IST with lots of Dollars

Hi,

Firstly, you can get the ex IST issued in the UK so why not? At least that is the reaction I got from BA earlier today.

Secondly, you should be aware that carriage of USD 10,000 in cash can trigger all sorts of nasty customs questions.

Thirdly, I got sniffed by the currency searching dog at LHR last time I went to IST. Infact, every time I have been to IST.

There are fares which BA has that are "private" fares and can only be sold ex-IST and I am fairly confident that the A/DONEx is not one of them. I am digging around a lot on IST fares as I am off there shortly and have to go back to UK, change bags and then off to SYD/CBR and CNS over the weekend for a couple of weeks and then direct back to the UK.

I am not suggesting that USD 10,000 is required in cash, merely pointing out what the regulation state.

I will post the ex IST, WAW and CAI fares very shortly on their own thread for D and A class, all in USD for our AAmericaan friends.
