LONEx Max NA Miles
I'm planning a LONEx MR and have a question to ask of the oneWORLD experts in this forum.
For maximum miles, what is the highest realistic/achievable routing that can be booked for the 6 NA segments within a xONEx itinery that starts outside NA. e.g. -LHR-<intercontinental>-LAX-<NA seg 1>-<P1>-<NA seg 2>-<P2>-<NA seg 3>-<P3>-<NA seg 4>-<P4>-<NA seg 5>-<P5>-<NA seg 6>-JFK-<intercontinental>-HKG-... |
Depends to some extent on time of year. Jun-Sept, DFW-ANC is a nice long non-transcon leg; in (N. Hemisphere) winter LAX-SJO ditto; the two services don't overlap, and only one ANC R/T permitted, not so with LAX-SJO. Both are in 757s, so an L-class MR would be a pretty miserable experience in those buggies.

Thanks GardyLoo, I'm pretty tough as far as long haul WHY goes (at least I like to think I am ;) ).
Also, is SYD-JFK on QF107 considered one intercontinental segment? |

No. That's an international segment; it doesn't matter that it stops so long as you don't get off. (Similarly JFK-HKG via YVR)

Serfty, you may need to define more clearly exactly what you are trying to maximise? If purely maximising miles flown, then the seasonal ANC flights are good. Programs such as AA that are purley mileage based for status will be looking to maximise the miles flown. For maximising benefits in zone-based programs like QF/BA may be a verhy different answer. Are you trying to maximise points earned in the QF program, or perhaps status in QF? Then the answers may be a little different.
