Changing Airlines on XONEX
I just flew from LHR-HKG last week. Originally I was on BA (per the ticket) however @ Last minute I decided to change back to CX.
In case anyone wants to know. The following steps are neccesary on CX: 1) If you have an exisiting CX booking, Call the local CX ticketing (or the HK CX Ticketing, as they are more knowledgable) 2) Tell them to add the new routing to the exisiting PNR (the PNR should have the ticket number already) 3) as CX have no access into the CRS of BA/QF (They use Amedaeus) you have to call BA to cancel the existing booking (Well just as a courtesy, if you don't have any BA bookings. If you have more BA bookings then you must cancel otherwise the rest of the trip might be affected). - However I still have some QF sectors and because of the timing I did not get a chance to call BA to cancel, this doesn not seem to affect my BA bookings. 4) Turn up at the airport and checkin. You DON't need the ticket to be reissued/reendorsed. But telling the checkin agent that you have made a change might be helpful to speed up the process. If they try and ask you to pay the 75USD just tell them CX ticketing @ HKG said it is OK. According to XONEX rule this is not a reticket event. 5) If you don't have a CX booking, then the best thing is just to also call CX ticketing and ask them to create a new booking on the routing. However do note on trunk routes like HKG-LHR it might be hard to get seats at the last minute (espeically on D Class) Fortunately CX firmed me up 3 days before departure. |
