Vying to comprend how Oneworld works.
 

I am an AAdvantage member but also enrolled in BA's Exec program. Was there a need to if I am in AAdvantage and also in One world?

I don;t see how the OW program works. Is there a good link that explains its purpose and advantages as opposed to only being a part of AAdvantage?

There is no oneworld *program*, common to all, if by program you mean a Frequent Flier Program (FFP). Each airline within the OW alliance has its own FFP, with its own set of rules and benefits, and most are vastly different from one another.

For most U.S.-based AAdvantage members, the principal reason to also join BA's EC is to earn miles on BA's transatlantic flights between the U.S. and London, which are not eligible to earn AA miles.

i suggest that you read the stickies in this forum to start. i found them helpful & i had thought i knew a lot.
