Oneworld Explorer question about missed flight
Hi,
I have an AONE3 of which I've used all but the last segment, which is for a London to Paris flight on BA on 1st December. However, I missed that flight (didn't check in or anything). Does anyone know if it's possible to still get the last segment changed (maybe to another destination in Europe), and to a new date/time? Or is it the case that once the date on the ticket has passed it becomes expired and of no further use? (For clarification - this was a 1st Class RTW ticket, and the originating flight was from Paris to Hong Kong.) THanks for any comments. Regards, Ben |
Changing the date is easy. Just call whoever issued the ticket and have a new reservation made. As far as changing the destination, there are more restrictions. You can do it for $75, but if it;s your last segment then you are more limited. If you are ending in Paris, I can only assume you started the trip in France. That means that you still have to end the trip in France. So you can change the destination for $75 but only to a destination in France.

Thanks for the reply Darren.
I was hoping that I could switch the destination to Lisbon instead of Paris - I didn't realise you had to go back to the same country - I thought the same continent would be OK :( Oh well. Thanks again. Ben |
Did you use all 20 segments (impossible on an AONE3) and 4 segments in Europe? If you haven't, you still have segments left and this isn't really your last segment (just the last that you have booked). You cannot buy extra segments in Europe but if you started as CDG-HKG probably you haven't used 3 segments in Europe already. So you could book LHR-LIS-MAD-CDG if you have 3 segments left, or if you only have 2 you could even book LHR-LIS/MAD-CDG. Ticket is valid for 1 year from the date of your first flight CDG-HKG. Changing routing will cause a USD 75 change fee while changing the date should be no fee though BA will charge you a GBP 25 fee so you want to do this at AA in LHR not BA.

Thank you for the suggestions, Number_6!
I did indeed have segments left in Europe and so ended up booking LHR-LIS and the LIS-MAD-CDG segments as you suggested. AA seem to have added a £5 service charge for changing tickets in the UK now, so I decided to go use BA to do the reissue as I was near their travel shop in Piccadilly. I suppose I can see why they charge so much for the change...the guy must have been typing in seemingly random strings of characters into his terminal for about half an hour before the new tickets popped out the printer. I also got charged a few extra pounds for taxes..and £3 for using a credit card! Anyway, it all worked out fine. Thanks again for your help. Regards, Ben |
