Ex-CAI update
Chaps / chapesses
BA CAI have indeed resumed RTW tix issue, but its prices are now pegged to the USD. That means you should expect some inflation to the figures previously posted in spotwelder's somewhat controversial sticky. Eg (before taxes) DONE 4 USD 4,883 = GBP 2,628 AONE 4 USD 6,572 = GBP 3,537 Still an attractive deal at these prices, but some variance should be allowed for if you're intending to use the sticky as a guide. |
I'm not clear what you are saying here... the prices for xONEx ex-CAI are now fixed by OneWorld in USD? I can't see how it could be the case that BA had a fixed USD price and AA had a fixed EGP one because they would very soon diverge. Individual airlines don't have the power to vary xONEx pricing.
But both AA and BA previously billed your credit card in USD doing a conversion on the day of issue from EGP. I have never been actually billed in EGP. |
Actually AA has always billed me in EGP. BA has always changed the EGP equivalent to USD at the time of ticket purchase for any fare not just RTWs.
EK has billed me in EGPs though. |
christep I must admit to a bit of confusion when Mrs Sobhi delivered this news. Last time BA issued tix for me in CAI the charge came through on my credit card in EGP, similarly AA. I guess the currency swings have proved too much for BA and it has decided to convert the local figure to the (relative) stability of the USD before issuing.

I have purchased two RTWs from Emeco on AA ticket stock. The one purchased late 2003 was written in EGP on both the ticket and on the credit card. The one purchased last month was written in EGP on the ticket but in USD on the credit card. The only consequence of this is that the rate is fixed about one month earlier, as it takes that long for the charge to reach the bank.

In July I was billed in GBP the day I collected my tickets in CAI, maybe because I was using a British credit card. BA had converted from EGP to GBP on the day of ticket issue.
I enquired about an AONE 3 ticket this week, and Mrs Sobhi quoted me EGP 39090.00 (including taxes) which she converted to USD at 6295.00. She's confirmed I can again pay in GBP converting from EGP on the day of ticket issue. $ weakness means my AONE3 costs about GBP3400 including taxes. Good news that Mrs Sobhi is now on email - [email protected] :) |

Presumably a date change is OK?
