Thanks for having patience and answering my many questions. I've been looking into all of the available RTW tickets for about 1.5 years now. It's quite exhausting now that I'm down to just a few months before I want to depart.

I'm still not sure what you mean by: "93N . 8. INTERMEDIATE SURFACE SEGMENTS PERMITTED." Is that 8 allowed surface segments for the entire RTW trip?

Maybe I will just write a post of what I have in mind for my trip...

South Pacific

SYD - NAN (1st segment)
NAN - AKL (2nd)
AKL - PPT (3rd)
PPT - IPC (4th)
IPC - SCL (free inter-continental segment)

South America

SCL-CCS
CCS-LIM
LIM-EZE
EZE-GRU
GRU - CMN via MAD (inter-continental segment) Does this take away 1 segment from Europe?

Europe

I'm not sure about Europe. We're wanting to see Cairo and maybe Morocco. Afterwards, we were hoping to fly into Greece and go overland with a Eurail pass up to Vienna and fly out of there to Moscow. Is this possible? Or is there not enough segments? We would then go via Trans-Siberian Moscow - Beijing and use our last flight segment for Asia to go back to Taipei.

There is no OW direct flight NRT-ICN
There is no OW direct flight NRT-BKK
AA and BA flights are codeshares operated by JAL.
So, you can not use these flights with Oneworld Explorer Fare.

SYD-NAN and NAN-AKL are also code share flights operated by Air Pacific.
AKL-PPT is code share flight operated by Air Tahiti Nui.

If you actually bothered to read the advice people have taken the trouble to give you here you would see that you have not understood the term "segment" at all. Please go and read the FAQ which is a sticky thread in this forum.

Ouch, Christep. I've read the FAQ in the sticky thread word for word 4 times now. If you don't think I'm bothering to read your advice, then please do not reply anymore.

I read: "Segment = a flight with a single flight number between two cities, whether or not it stops between the origin and destination, and whether or not there is a change of aircraft along the way." If this is not the case, then please let eamus know ASAP. It also states: "NRT-BKK is two segments (NRT-HKG, HKG-BKK) since there is no oneworld single flight number between NRT and BKK." I used the Oneworld Timetable and found flight AA 7279 from NRT to BKK, operated by JL direct flight leaving at 6:40pm and arriving at 11:10pm. I found a couple direct flights NRT - ICN on BA 4601 and 4603. Just wondering, but why would the "Oneworld Timetable" have these codeshare flights if we're not allowed to use them?

You guys seem to be experts on the rules and restrictions. Is there anyway I can do this itinerary or one similiar with the LONE4 ticket? I don't have much money for anything more expensive.

IMHO, there are some reasons.

1. Some special fares (not Oneworld Explorer) permit these flights.
2. CX's Onewolrd Timeatble lists non-OW KA(Dragon Air) flights because of some relationship with them.
3. Sometimes, you can earn miles with codeshare flights operated by non-OW carrier.
4. etc.

You are confusing the oneworld timetable, which is general in nature, with the oneworld explorer fare, which contains its own set of rules and restrictions that prevent you from using some oneworld flights, routes, etc.

Remember that you cannot go London-Cairo return and then onto some other countries. You may do two flights on the restricted list but you may have to consider MAD/BCN to CAI and others such as Athens. If you get stuck in London then remember that BA does ATH cheaply out of LGW not LHR. However, I had better check as the timetable changes today.

Can you post your constructed route to date and then we can play with the destinations and routes?

Since it looks like I cannot use the codeshares of Air Pacific, Air Tahiti Nui or Polynesian, which South Pacific islands am I allowed to visit with the LONE4 ticket?

Noumea is the only place in the South Pacific that you can get to/from on oneworld metal. There is also service PPT-IPC-SCL, but no way to get to PPT without buying a separate ticket.

So with a LONE4 ticket, I'm blocked into just Australia, New Zealand and Noumea? It seems that all domestic flights within New Zealand are operated by Jetconnect. Does this mean that for my "South Pacific" continent, I basically can only fly within Australia? Since I have a total of 4 flight segments, what are some possibilites? I don't have any money to spend on seperate flights and I'm basically wanting a stop on the south island and north island of New Zealand. I haven't looked into any places in Australia yet. I was mainly interested in New Zealand and a couple South Pacific islands.

Check for flights into Auckland, Christchurch, and Queenstown. I believe there is a flight into Queenstown that only operates one day/week.

You can fly from HKG or SYD to AKL.

You can fly from SYD and AKL to CHC.

So you could do something like this:

HKG-AKL
AKL-CHC
CHC-SYD

That only uses 2 flights of your 4 flight allocation.

I just had a quick look at the QF site. There're 2 flights per day from AKL to ZQN at the moment. One is direct, the other has a quick stop at CHC, but even that has a single flight number, so only one segment regardless in this context.

the_p0et, you can fly domestic within NZ on your ONE ticket. Domestic in NZ is operated by Jetconnect, but everything is QF 'labelled'. Jetconnect is allowed on ONEs, as mentioned in the OW web site and the FAQ here.

You can try - Aus/HKG-AKL-ZQN-CHC-Aus.

JetConnect operates some trans-tasman and all NZ domestic flights for Qantas but is considered full part of Qantas.

Kind of like United Express (and I'm sure many others) in the USA.

Leumas and Kiwi Flyer, you've taught me something very useful about Jetconnect that I didn't know. I had tried to work out an RTW including Queenstown, and thought only one weekly QF flight from Australia (that I can't even find now!) qualified. It's good to know that Jetconnect is considered Qantas for purposes of the RTW.
