Maximum mileage / Tier points on AONE4?
I was wondering if anyone knew of the best route using a AONE4 ticket to gain the maximum number of miles and tier points possible (BAEC)?
|
Max miles and max tier points may not be the same. But something like this might get you max tier points:
CAI-LHR BA 180 LHR-EZE BA 180 EZE-GRU BA 180 GRU-EZE BA 180 EZE-GRU BA 180 GRU-MIA AA 180 (Separate R/T MIA-NAS) NAS-PLS BA 180 PLS-NAS BA 180 NAS-GCM BA 180 GCM-NAS BA 180 MIA-LAX AA 180 LAX-HKG CX 180 HKG-CGK CX 180 CGK-HKG CX 180 HKG-CTS CX 180 CTS-HKG CX 180 HKG-LHR BA 180 LHR-DOH BA 180 DOH-BAH BA 180 BAH-DOH BA 180 |
Bah-doh?
hauteboy, that's a very interesting routing indeed. Do we have confirmation yet that the BAH-DOH segments indeed accrue 180 tier points? I remember someone in the BA forum mentioning he'd be flying that route in the next few months.

Indeed it does... do a search for DOH on the BA forum. Also someone received 75 Tier Points for GRU-EZE in WT+, so 180 sounds correct |
Not sure that you can embark at NAS, or vice versa. I've done LHR-GCM often and, yes, it does stop in NAS, but I've never seen anyone board there.
|
Looks like you could board in NAS
I just tried to make a dummy booking for NAS-PLS-NAS in F on ba.com (7/14 Nov). It comes up with a price of $853, which is not exactly great, but could be a nice tier point run if you need it and happen to be in the area. The AONEx tier point run makes more sense though. The NAS-GCM-NAS run prices at a slightly more expensive $859.25.
Just for the sake of completeness, GRU-EZE-GRU in F prices at $1508.99, and BAH-DOH-BAH at $516.82. For non-RTW tier point runs, it's only this latter that makes sense. |
good shout
That trip looks OK. You might have to watch the stopovers but out and back on some should be OK. The BA rules are reasonably easy for interpretation of F = 180 with the 2001 miles plus rule. It is a bit more difficult for QFs with the 2701 miles and 5001 mile rules to take into account. In addition, the BAH-DOH shuttles in F would only count the same as J for QF as they are such short runs. However, the BAH-DOH does have the advantage of being an evening trip so you can still work the day in BAH, and if London based, get back on the same aircraft for BAH-LHR as you would have done anyway.

Now if you started in GRU or EZE, you couldn't do those routes but otherwise you could do up to 4 legs. Complicated :) |

My next RTW is a DONE4. I am going to NZ for the Lions Tour and will do a couple of sidetrips out of HKG to get maximum tier points. Subject to BA keeping earning levels the same I will attain Gold and will be gaurenteed benefits for another two years. On this trip I am only making use of one of my 6 segments in the US as I don't have the time. The primary purpose of the trip is to go to NZ and the Miles and Tier points are mostly definatley a secondary considertion. My advice would be to plan a trip that will give you the greatest enjoyment while adding a good amount of Miles and Tier Points to your account. |
