It's really not very cheap at all! Does anyone actually buy them?

Seeing that the only difference between the Visit North America Pass is the inclusion of CATHAY PACIFIC for the JFK-YVR-JFK route, I would highly recommend the other pass... AMERICAN AIRLINES' VUSA pass which are restricted to AA flights only, and are sold as per coupon instead of mileage.

Travel on AA only and booked in M class. I can't tell you what the fares are today.. but about 3 years ago, they were something like $499 for 3 sectors/coupons. Hawaii/Mexico/Caribbean can be included for $199 for 2 extra coupons. You'd have to call an AA office OUTSIDE of NORTH AMERICA to get the current fares.

Is there anywhere online that I can get the fare rules for this pass? The AA call centre people here appear to be REALLY incompetant

WHERE are you calling from? There are no websites that I know of that has this fare rule.

Remember that you would need to contact an AA office outside North America to get this info. Ask for the VISIT USA fares. They start at 3 coupons. Travel into the USA/Canada on AA partner carriers (Oneworld plus a few others) have one fare, and travel by others ie non-AA partners have a slightly higher fare level. Minimu 3 coupons, maximum is 8 coupons which could include the 2 Hawaii/Caribbean/Mexico sidetrips. Travel from Asia/Pacific is cheaper than the Visit USA fares from Europe. Don't know why!

Important thing : You must be a non resident of North America/Mexico/Caribbean to use this fare. You must bring proof of residency outside of North America/Mexico/Caribbean and return ticket to/from USA.

Can anyone actually confirm that the AA Visit USA fares still exist? I called AA in SYD a couple of months ago and was told these fares had been discontinued.

As far as I know... these fares are available from Europe. They're still on line on SABRE.
