DONE4 Stopover Restrictions

Just want to know how STRICT are they on Stopovers on the DONE4?

eg. If I take SYD-HKGx-LHR and after the ticket is issued I changed the date of my HKG-LHR to a later date? Will they ever know? Is it possible?

This is policed by the check-in agents, who are generally very good at HKG. Why would you want to risk it? If you are caught you will have to fork out a large amount of money to go on the flight you planned to be on, even assuming they let you go at all. You should also get blacklisted by whichever airline you tried it on with.

The contract terms for the ticket are clear. If they don't fit with your plans then buy a different ticket, but please don't do things like you suggest which might well result in the rules being tightened up even further thus making these tickets less attractive for the rest of us.

If you can explain what the problem is in terms of your route and why you think that you are not entitled to a stopover, then maybe we can look at the rules.

Was Asia your origin? Have you already stopped in HKG? Have you run out of Asia stopovers? Is this just a non-stopover to get SYD to LHR and you want to use Cathay or the day flight westbound?

No, actually I was just Wondering and have NO intention to do it. Before CX introduced 3 flights to HKG from SYD it does not really fit in the Schedule (As I want a full day in HKG to do a few things before I get on the night flight to LHR - all within 24hrs).

Interesting that the checkin agents will police it? I thought they don't care as it only affects the issuing airline?
How would the checkin agent know (normally thye don't even ask for all of the tickets (and CX does not have access into BA/QF's reservation system?)

With e-ticketing around the corner, you can bet that CX can see or have access to all of your segments and eventually ticketing agreements. Remember that 'upgrades can be done on BA if they're e-tickets' forum?

CX will see the x/ on your HKG stop and WILL ask you when you flew in and will remark that you can't etc as you need to pay the extra HK departure tax. Once that is paid, they will bring the ticket to a ticketing agent to check the ticket.. and trust me, they are very very knowledgable of such tactics by passengers and will ask you if you intend to stop over again on the return etc..
