Explorer routing question

Just a quick one - planning a LONE4 for a family vacation. We want to visit both YTO and YVR, but some members of the family are adament that they won't fly to/from USA.

Is it possible to take CX829 YYZ-YVR on a xONEx ticket? My TA argued with her supervisor for a good 15 minutes about whether YVR is a tech-stop only on this route, and couldn't give me a definite answer.

Thanx all.

Not sure whether this is dispositive or not, but it shows up as a stand-alone flight on the OneWorld Timetable. FWIW

But it doesn't show up on the schedules on the CX website, so I doubt it.

Old rule

There used to be a rule that you could pick up "on line connecting traffic only" and that you could have been carried under those rules. In English, if you were not buying a domestic sector then you could do A-B-C if the ticket was valid for A-C with B-C being the domestic.

However, please give feedback to this board when you have cracked that one. I would suggest a quick call to CX local office. Come back Canadian Airlines, we miss you in 1W so much...

It has to do with whether the carrier is permitted to pick up traffic...which I doubt CX is for a variety of reasons. The best way to check is with the galileo tool floating about. If it shows up in Galileo then usually its fine, if not then no. Given that it is purely a domestic flight, I seriously doubt it because few governments allow that much freedom for foreign carriers. I think the only routes that is allowed in the OW network are within Peru on Lan Chile/Peru, on Comair in various countries, and the LAX-JFK route on Qantas.

finally got round to calling cx - apparantly they do pick up passengers in YVR on this flight number, but still won't allow pax originating in YYZ to get off in YVR.

I'm still not convinced, coz the agent I spoke to thought that pax originating in JFK can't get off the plane at YVR either, and I know that they can (coz I did) - I'll eventually call them back, but I'm not too hopeful, coz the segment isn't showing up on itn either.

God, I miss CP!

CX only has traffic rights between YVR and YYZ and v.v. for subload passengers ie crew and family only.
