South American Loop
Does anyone have any opinion as to what the best routing would be for this two different pairings:
SAN-EZE-RIO-SAN and JFK-EZE-RIO-JFK my brother and I are attempting to meet up in buenos aires and then travel on to Rio...is it easier for him to meet me in buenos aires or MIA or DFW? Also, on the middle leg, which partner is the EZE- RIO leg most likely to be with? |
Have you tried to price your itinerary directly to EZE with Varig ? You should get a free stopover in Brazil. If they don't let you stopover in RIO and make you stopover in GRU then a SAO-RIO (rt) is available starting at USD 50,00 flying an LCC.
Editted to add : Notice this is the OW forum !!! :D :D Try the above with TAM airlines - probably an AA codeshare might be more expensive. Beware that by flying TAM you may accrue miles in AAdvantage but if not AA# they won't be EQM. |
Well the stop over is included on the AA ticket as well isn't it? At least i know it was when i did new york to berlin (AA/BA) with a lay over in london
so if i booked the trip as new york to rio with a lay over in buenos aires, wouldnt that all be included as one trip? and i'm not trying to collect miles on this trip, i'm planning on using them to fly it, since the san diego leg in particular is pricing out at over $1000 at this point |
Option a) SAN - EZE, stop-over in RIO/SAO
Option b) SAN - RIO, unsure whether any fare will allow you to go to EZE, included If AA sells it and you want AAdvantage miles check a SAN-GRU and GRU-EZE with BA. BA flies this route on certain days of the week. Apparently AA has this fare over 1100 USD, (V-class). But then, this fare and the upper ones until 1300 USD won't allow a stop in Brazil - no good for you. Seems Varig to be the most inexpensive (under 1000) and allowing a stop-over in Brazil at 60USD/each stop. |
Additionally, from JFK-EZE (with a stop-over in Brazil) you can get TAM and Varig starting at 600 USD. Probably worth an inexpensive SAN-JFK-SAN and then your intl ticket. Or... the above suggestion.
Note that Varig miles accrue for Star Alliance programs, while TAM flown EQM cannot be credited towards any global program, but their own. |
Let me say it again, and i'm not trying to be rude here...
I dont want to pay for the segment between brazil and argentina, it is part of a single reward ticket from AA using a OW partner for the portion that AA does not fly my question is which partner is that most likely to be on and is it easier to meet up with my brother coming from san diego in dallas, miami or in buenos aires? |
HardlyW8,
Apparently I was missing your point here, and I'm sorry. I understand now you're flying an award and not a revenue ticket. TAM is the airline AA uses in South America, for the tag EZE-Brazil. BA also flies this route on some days of the week. So does LanChile, through SCL. Unsure whether you can include BA or LA on this award without it becoming a OW award (thus, guess, requiring a min of 3 OW carriers). Because you're asking info on awards involving AA miles and another carrier (not AA) I'll leave for the AAdvantge experts to please answer. |
