Camera shy, Richard, but liked your piece on travelling cattle class RTW with Star Alliance. You should try the same thing for the other alliances too. I've always wondered how people get on with SkyTeam, for instance.

I sure could use some tips

Hi Richard...

As much as I fly, I am a FFM rookie...I am truly ignorant when it comes to managing and using my miles. Much as I try, I can't seem to understand the various rules...and then the rules keep changing. Or the airline goes belly-up. I have all these miles on LX but am not sure whether to cash them in for a non-flight related item or hang in there to see what they're going to do re: alliance with another airline. Doesn't help that LX eliminated their run between Zurich and Washington, which I used to fly all the time. So what do I do now that I no longer have as much of a reason to fly them? Pretty standard stuff.

All of this is to say that I'd love to help if I can...if you want to approach it from the perspective of the totally clueless and confused, then I'm your person. At any rate I'm sure I will learn something from you...as I always do when I watch BT!
