fare rule question / DONE3 /DONE 4 / DGLOBE 34
 

Hi,
can any one explain in short words what the different between DONE 3 / 4 and DGLOBE 34 fares.

And is it possible as part of the routing .....LON-HKG-BOM-HKG-BOM-HKG-JFK.......
That´s 4 segments within ASIA ; all stops longer than 24h.

Done 3/4 are business class fares with 3 or 4 continents. 20 total flight numbers maximum, with 4 maximum within most continents. You can pay an extra fee to get up to 2 extra segments within a continent (still stuck at 20 maximum overall), so you could squeeze an extra hkg-bom in if you wanted.

I'm not as familiar with the DGLOBE34, but it's business class with 34,000 mile maximum. So this fare counts miles, while the other one counts flight numbers. They let you fly Air Pacific on this fare I think, which they don't on the OWE fares. I'm not sure if there is a restriction on multiple stops in a particular city on this one.

So, if the DGLOBE34 count miles it is not so interesting for me.

But can someone confirm that with the DONE3 the following is possible.

That should hit the rules, and earns maximum tierpoints in BA EC DFW-SJU-DFW is more than 2000 miles each segment ! Any idea if there are any more segments whch are more than 2000 miles and don´t count as intercontinental ? The last MIA-LAX should also be ok, as it is only a transfer for LAX-LHR.

There are at least a couple of problems.

You can't do CAI-LHR and LHR-DXB. Only two segments are allowed LHR to the Middle East.

Also you may have only one transcon in NA so can't do JFK-SFO and MIA-LAX.

And yes LHR-HKG-BOM-HKG-BOM-HKG-JFK should be OK.

In the northern summer, you can do ORD-ANC and DFW-ANC which are over 2000 miles and travel is in F when booked on DONE3/4.

Isn´t MIA-LAX only a Transfer without SO ? Found following in the rules :

And I have only 2 segments LHR-DXB-LHR! The first and last segment LHR / CAI are not in the list ! See below !
And Algeria, Tunis,Lybia,Egypt are in Northafrica but count to Europe ! But only Algeria and Tunis and Marocco are in the farerule list below! Also I have already some DONEW4 tickets issued in Cairo ( CAI-LHR-DXB-LHR...............HKG-LHR-CAI ) and the first 3 Segments are already flown with no problems! I thougt to get problems with stopping and flying 2 times the same in ASIA HKG-BOM-HKG-BOM-HKG, but I couldn´t find anything in the note.

in November I only found a daily flight ORD-ANC with a codeshare AS/AA6841 flightno.! This should be on Air Alaskas plane! Is this allowed to use within a DONE3 ?

That's because November isn't the summer! On DONEn fares you can only fly on One World metal, not code shares, so Alaska Airlines is not allowed. The AA flights to ORD continue until around the first week in October if I recall correctly (and to DFW they stop a couple of weeks earlier).

Codeshares with DGLOBnn fares?

Not all codeshares are allowed. Here is the rule:
That would exclude the AA codeshares on JAL services.

Out of interest, is there some logical explanation for the CX HKG/Vietnam exclusion?

As jrussell said you can't do two x-country flights in NA. The rule you are partially quoting has to do with 2 intercontinental arrivals and departures are allowed in NA in connection with a transfer from SA to another continent. The entire rule is here:

Actually Eqypt is considered part of Europe for some things and not for others. The OneWorld Explorer rules actually lump Europe and the Middle East together for most purposes but Egypt is not included as part of Europe but as part of the Middle East. See:
Good luck if you think you do both LHR-DXB-LHR-CAI, since the rule changed two years ago it hasn't been possible.

HKG/Vietnam service is a joint service between CX and VN. They share revenue on this route even if the flight is booked on CX code and operated by CX. You cannot book a pure CX flight on this route. :(

I was told that the Vietnamese government prohibited participation in any ticketing past HKG for this route. So it isn't Oneworld rules but rather the Vietnamese government rules that must change to allow ticketing.
