Title on OW ticket/passport
 

Ended up buying a OW ticket directly from AA in the UK, as travel agents wouldn't let me have segments with open dates.

However, I've had a real nightmare with AA and I've just received newly reprinted tickets. This time they spelt my name right, but someone decided to change my title from Miss to Mrs. AA state that it doesn't matter to them and it won't to other OW carriers. I'm worried though, because the ticket details don't match my passport details.

Should I get a new ticket printed?

I don't think your passport shows your title or marital status (especially since this may change).

Gonna have to get my ticket reissued though, cause when I looked at it properly they've decided to change my route for me and take me to Iraq instead of Bangkok. I can't even laugh about it anymore - complete nightmare.

Er, what? Which OW airline flies to Iraq then?

When possible, I try to have the airline issuing the ticket to use ONLY my FIRST and LAST name.

LASTNAME/FIRSTNAME instead of LASTNAME/FIRSTNAME MR

One time when I was flying, my boarding pass printed out as LASTNAME/FIRSTNAMEMR (no spaces) and the immigration officer who was checking my passport against my boarding pass asked me whether the "MR" meant "Mister", or if it was my middle initials!! (my middle initials are is not MR).

My itinerary/tickets now state Kirkuk to Mumbai, rather than Bangkok to Mumbai.

Why would I make this up?

Besides the city (presumably an accidental variation of BKK) there must be a flight number. What is it? (Or is this a vote against open ticketing?)

Finally received a FULL refund from AA for the tickets. The whole experience took over 1 month, had to return 2 sets of incorrectly issued tickets, made over 20 phone calls, sent emails and faxes. I've never dealt with such an appalling service as the AA desk in Dublin (they found it really funny when they realised they'd re-routed us through Iraq and insisted we'd spelt our own names incorrectly!)

I've now booked my tickets through a travel agent. The tickets are not open dated, as they won't do that, but at least they're usable. I guess I've got more fun to come when I try to change my dates whilst travelling. :eek:

Your travel agent can change them. I wouldn't worry much about it though you will sometimes encounter problems from overzealous agents from a certain American airline.

You will find that, generally, these days fare rules do not allow open sectors except for full fares. (Apparently far too many people believed that an open sector entitled them to a seat, even if the appropriate booking class was not available.)

Er, with respect, that's bollocks. I have far more of my tickets, both RTW and others issued open-dated than with specific dates on them, and I have never bought a full fare ticket.
