Fiji Airways and Oneworld

Has FJ become a full Oneworld member today? Just noticed that their website has been updated and Oneworld connect has been removed, their social media has also been updated. BA.com has updated the tier point calculator.

Mileage programs as profitable subsidiaries .. That's just confirmation of a strategy we should know by now.
Separately, QF is probably watching closely, given HA/AS, FJ, and AA routes between US and S. Pacific cities.

I guess they wouldn't want to do it at the real start of Q2 lest it be misinterpreted.

I booked a RTW on Oneworld a month or so ago. Did the planning myself, then got BA to ticket it. Two Fiji Airways sectors included.

Somehow, FJ is not aligning itself with oneworld's general booking class sequence until 01MAY

Interesting, was there a trade comment on this (so no D == discounted business for a month?), as previously when looking for flights with FJ I didn't find as many D seats as I may prefer

I am happy that this has come to occur, though it feels like it has been rather sneaked out without much pre-notice, including the switch to AAdvantage? Or I wasn't paying much attention to the dates since it had been announced for so long.

Either way, for those of us keen on RTW trips this opens up a variety of new options to the South West Pacific / Oceania beyond Qantas, which is advantageous. I was looking to see what I could get to, probably some intra-island hops like
LAX/HNL-NAN, NAN - Island1 - NAN - Island2 - NAN, NAN-HKG or to Auckland and Melbourne rather than the islands. Not great distances or planes, but could be routes to some fairly out of the way locations

(I presume would be allowed as the 4 segments, maybe even with some fairly long, if potentially painful IRROPs towards CXI for example - where there is a plane a week)

Availability should not change. In fact, the change only applies to economy booking classes, not business ones. If you look at the tables at https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/jmb/earn/travel/flight/fj/ and match the booking class sequence one by one, you can see how the old booking class correspond to the new one.

On 03 June 2024 was announced FJ would become a full OW member, replacing the confusing OW Connect. Exact join date was not announced
On 28 June 2024 was announced FJ would use AAdvantage as its ffp. Exact join date was not announced
On 17 Feb 2025 was an interview with OW CEO Nat Pieper "that Fiji Airways will become the alliance’s 14th full member by the end of the first quarter of 2025."
Always expected these to be on the same day.

It's been a couple of weeks since FJ officially joined oneworld, but still, several carriers have not yet listed FJ as their FFP partner. Apart from AA, AS, BA, CX, and QF, which all have existing FFP partnership with FJ, I only see FJ being added on the FFP webpages of JL (which published different tables for APR2025 and MAY2025 + beyond, separately) and QR (which only has a single table based on post-MAY2025 booking classes). AT, AY, IB, MH, RJ, and UL have not yet included FJ on their FFP webpages. This is unprecedented. I wonder if they are all waiting till May to publish the information. In a way, it seems almost like FJ is only working with half of oneworld partners now, not too different from its connect membership days.

Has anyone booked FJ in their RTW tickets? When I use the Oneworld tool, it seems to offer Qantas flights and not many FJ.

Is FJ a good option for travel to avoid high surcharges? Thanks.
