Is 2 hour 20 minute layover in BKK enough?
Hi All!
Flying from HND-BKK-USM with a 2 hour 20 minute layover oh two separate tickets. Theres a lot of info out there on minimum connection time on two tickets for BKK (International to Domestic) I want to ask if anyone has experience on this particular route. I know you have to exit, clear immmigration, collect bags re check in etc....but realistically is 2 hours 20 minutes enough? What a real world experience lately. I can't imagine BKK is busy that early. Japan Airlines Land in BKK 05:50 AM Bangkok Airways to USM 08:10 AM |
If your JAL flight is ontime it is possible HBO, BKK is very busy at that time of day with overnight flights arriving, if you are in J your entitled to fastrack immigration, otherwise in Y queues for immigration can be an hour, on separate tickets & with checked bags i would not contemplate just 2.20 at BKK

We are in J, but still need to get our bags. Even with J, you think it’s too close? Thanks so much

I would say you would need luck on your side on two tickets even in business to connect at BKK. If even the slightest thing should go wrong you will miss your connection.

I would not even consider doing 2:20 with checked bags.
Note that this is not technically a "connection" since it is on separate PNRs. |
ps. Why is this posted in Star Alliance thread?

PROVIDING there are no flight delays, you should make it. Over the last 18 months, I flew into BKK in business (QR and JL) and cleared immigration, got my bags and was out the front door in 30-45 minutes. This includes the last trip (the same HND-BKK on JL flight) which landed in the new remote terminal. If you are also in business on Bangkok Air, they have Blue Ribbon check in desks. If you don't have Blue Ribbon access, the line might be long so see if Bangkok Air has online check in and bag drop.
