AONE3 ex-TYO check

All,

I've done several of these in the past but bit rusty after the pandemic. The online tool (both the old and new improved AI version) is a challenge so thought would check with the experts. Is the following a valid itinerary (the tool spews out stuff about continent origin stopovers despite them not being stopovers):

TYO-xHKG-LHR-DUB-LHR-DXB-LHR-NYC-HKG-xCGK-xHKG-TYO

I would be doing several flights in the continent of origin but would restrict it to two stopovers. Can be flexible with the exact routing etc.

Any advice would be appreciated before try and ticket this through a travel agent. I used to use Cathay direct but they appear to now direct you to the tool.

Not commenting on the validity of your itinerary.
In the Europe/ME continent, it seems a waste not to try LHR-DOH on QR A388 first class. I understand you are LHR based and may have reasons to do LHR-DUB-LHR. What kind of F do you have there?

Your itinerary is valid. The tool continues to have many bugs (and I personally find the AI version to be a real PITA ). You are still allowed four flight segments in Asia, even though it's your continent of origin, and up to two stopovers there.

You could try ticketing with the AA RTW desk. Not sure if they still require an AA-marketed "over water segment" (i.e. inter-continental segment), but if they do then fly AA LON-NYC (either AA metal or an AA codeshare on BA metal) or the AA codeshare on CX's NYC-HKG flights.

You only have 11 segments - leaving FIVE on the table! Not allowed here on flyertalk!

Just FYI, unfortunately I believe there is no more AA codeshare on JFK-HKG because the CX flights fly in Russian airspace...

More importantly for the OP, does CX have any "A" service scheduled JFK - HKG?

If they're committed to flying First to HKG, they might need to choose to connect in a different U.S. gateway which has a flight with a CX First cabin to HKG (and which flight may still be a AA codeshare).

CX does not have any F seating from JFK-HKG, so no A availability. They fly F out of LAX.

CX is restoring F service to NYC as of March 2024!
