Is this a valid AONE4 routing - online booking tool says no ..

Hi and at last looks like I’m going to be back to my round the world flying after a few year’s absence.

As we know the OWRTW booking tool is not always to the most helpful and is telling me this is not possible due to only 2 stopovers allowed in continent of origin .

TYO-KUL-SIN-SYD-WLG-SYD-LHR-BDA-PHL-BUF-ORD-LAX-HKG-TYO

I’m stopping over in KUL but not SIN or HKG. - they are transits
I’ve stopovers in SYD WLG LHR BDA PHL BUF ORD LAX

I might start the routing as TYO-HKG-SIN with a stopover in SIN but not HKG and trying this online I get the same error message …

Maybe I’m missing something
And I know that there are some v short flights on this and not in A class but it suits me to have them all on one ticket !

Thanks in advance for any light that might be shed

It appears valid to me TYO-KUL-SIN-SYD-WLG-SYD-LHR-BDA-PHL-BUF-ORD-LAX-HKG-TYO.
So it looks like yet another bug in the tool.

Have you tried making KUL-SIN a surface segment?

I would always bow to Pandaperth's far superior knowledge but is it not maybe that the South Pacific region is considered "east" of Asia and therefore travel would not be in one continuous direction? Or is South Pacific considered in the same way that Africa is in relation to Europe as a direct north-south routing?

Asia-South West Pacific is a North-South routing.

My 2022 DONE4 started KHI-CMB-MEL-LHR..., so I travelled quite some way East (KHI-CMB-MEL) before I headed off West (MEL-LHR) on my westbound RTW :p. What decides the direction of a RTW itinerary is the first crossing of a Tariff Conference boundary - my first boundary crossing was TC3 to TC2 (the MEL-LHR flight) making my RTW a westbound RTW. Pianoperson's RTW is also westbound (the SYD-LHR flight is the first crossing of a TC boundary)

Asia and SWP are both part of TC2, therefore must be north/south.

Just a small one from my most recent experience, the OW tool didn't work on an otherwise valid itinerary without selecting a preferred carrier in the top right on the page with all of the flights listed. I couldn't get mine without choosing CX which isn't actually what I wanted except the first 2 segments, however it wouldn't even entertain me otherwise. That also forced me to use CX on my final segment which also I didn't want since JL flies it directly, but c'est la vie, it's a few hours for a massage in the Pier and to get tanked at the bar. In my limited experience with CX so far and reading others' reports, best to have it lined up first via the OW site then make final adjustments vs. trying to find a CX phone agent to do it all.

BTW, looks like your proposed itinerary will force you to ticket on JL, are you sure you really want that? They have a ticketing fee and also a service fee, even for changes that would otherwise be free. Seems you have leftover segments, why not go with CX via HKG and ticket with them? You'll add a bit in airport taxes / fees since HKG likes to add a bit of a pounding these days but if you end up doing a bit of otherwise free changes, might be worthwhile.

HI
Thanks and I”m sure it’s a valid routing …. I’ve done many RTW tickets over the years and know how buggy the online tool is
I’ve decided to go via HKG initially so have had good experiences with Cathay for ticketing and have emailed them and waiting to see what they have to say …

HI
The routing via KUL would be mean ticketing on Malaysian Airlines stock not JAL
I’ve decided to go with my HKG option as I’ve had nothing but excellent service from Cathay in the past with RTW ticketing so have emailed them in TYO and am awaiting their reply with fingers crossed and baited breath !
Cheers
