JFK --> SIN: Revenue Ticket + Miles
 
Hi There,

Looking to get to Singapore on OneWorld... what's the best route for buying an economy ticket and upgrading to business class using miles? Have plenty of MR or Chase Points that I could redeem.

  • Have you looked which OW airlines fly that route?
  • When?
  • What ffp's are you a member of? And status?
  • Often low priced economy tickets are not eligible for upgrades.
  • Cross airline upgrades are uncommon and if available have many t&c's
  • When it come to upgrades (by any method) USA based airlines & non USA based airline work very different.
  • The chances of an upgrade with ff miles/ with cash co-pay is low.

  • American Airlines // Platinum: I don't have enough miles with AA to redeem for an upgrade -- that is why I am looking to MR or Chase Points transfer partner.
Ideally, I get credit for the miles to AA and transfer miles to Cathay, Qatar or BA for the upgrade.

Have you studied the process for getting upgrades on CX, QR & BA? QR in particular. :eek:
Upgrades with ff miles/cash co-pay are never guaranteed.

To upgrade to business on Cathay you'd need to have a revenue ticket in Premium Economy for the long haul. You can't upgrade from economy to business on CX long-haul.

is too close for transferring MR/points to FFP and redeem.

To be specific, you need W or R class. E class is not eligible.
