RTW Question - New to One World
Dear One World Sages,
I am the expert in *A rules, but I am a One World Virign. Do I need to purchase my ticket in the originating country? With *A, this used to be the case. But for many years, we can start in any country and purchase in the US - at the rate of the originating country (which in many cases is much cheaper). Thank you in advance. |
The same is true of oneworld, although the change to being able to purchase anywhere at the rate of the originating country is more recent than for *A.
|
For many years, it compared the prices for the country of sale and the country of origin and charged the higher of the two.
This was changed early last year to the price of the country of origin converted to the currency of the country of sale. |
Same with, been using *A for decades but now considering One World.
I know that Japan is the place to start a RTW with *A, but no clue where to have the best rates for One World. I surely would appreciate your advice ! |

Some ports have good prices for one class, but bad for others (eg, AKL is good for LONEx, but not so good for D or A.) Better departure points are in Southern Africa (that haven't been repriced to USD), Northern and Eastern Europe (non Euro Zone) and East Asia. |
