The almost Transcon that Isn't SFO-TPA
Might be useful for mileage.

Also SAN-TPA.

I don't understand why flights from California to TPA are not considered transcontinental. Are they so recent that they were not specifically included in the transcon pairs listed in the rules?

If I can get there, can I repeatedly fly the same distant city pairs over and over to get the miles on a ONE?
No. You are limited to 4 segments per continent (6 in NA) and 20 total.
I called AA RTW the other day and confirmed that JFK-PHX is considered a transcon. This seems to be stretching it big time.
PHX is not in the list of cities where there is a limitation on transcons. I think the AA RTW agent was wrong. It is the same in AA/BA/CX copy of the rules.
I agree with headinclouds. And the AA RTW desk happily ticketed three segments between JFK and PHX in addition to my transcon on my last passage through the US on a OWE in early February.
So, as long as you don't violate any OTHER rules (like segments per continent), there is no reason why you can't fly the same city pairs over and over?
On a OneWorld Explorer ticket you may fly between city pairs as often as the other rules allow.
But note that on a Global Explorer & Circle (but for some reason not CTP) you may only fly between city pairs once in each direction. |
