Splitting a LONE over several FF programmes

Many OW FF programmes give zero or reduced miles for L class flown on most other OW carriers. But what is there to prevent someone from using several programmes (say QF and CX and AA) and selecting the programme to which they want to credit each segment of a LONE, so as to get 100% miles for each segment? Is this allowed, and can the computers cope with it? (Yes, you would need to do many LONEs to get a decent reward in each programme.)

Every sector can be credited to a separate FF program. Some airlines/agents have trouble putting in separate numbers for transit legs (they don't know how to work the computer) so you may have to study up on the key sequences and prompt them if you really want to do this. But it works fine.

Depends on the computer used.

SABRE can do it.

AMADEUS can't.

CX's CUBE can't either.

So you would need to reserve the entire LONE itinerary through a carrier or TA which uses SABRE? Which of the OW carriers use SABRE?

Every system can handle different FF program for the segements across a stopover, the info from GB is that only Sabre can handle it for a transit. AA uses Sabre, QF/BA use Amadeus. So book the reservation using AA RTW desk (which is the best way to book in any case) and have them enter your choice of FF number for each sector. Then you are all set and nothing to do at the gate (as long as you don't change your mind).

Thank you very much Number_6 and GB; your answers have finally sunk into my thick skull.
(And stupid me wasted CX V class segments SYD-HKG-LHR in the past by not reading the QF program T&Cs - should have used AsiaMiles for these).

Why? You don't get any miles for CX V on AsiaMiles - only YBHKLMS.

How does QF handle this? I have to fly on QF for many segments and planned to use AA for most of my flights. However, I would like to capture the miles on the QF flights I am taking.

Can I just go to the check-in counter and give them the right FF number?

Thanks.

Alex

Yes. But insist that your boarding pass has the FF number you want printed on it, and keep it until you are sure the miles have gone to the right place. Generally there isn't a problem, but BA are notorious for being unable to change the FF programme correctly at check-in.

Just looked at the CX T&Cs and you are right, so nothing wasted after all. What a truly useless booking class CX V is. I would have thought that V would rank higher than L, but apparently not.
