Int'l Transit at IST
I will be making an international connection to BA677 [IST-LHR] next month. On my previous trip to IST, my recollection is that of a very modern facility and would presume that it is possible to stay airside without clearing immigration. Is it possible to check-in for the BA flight in the transit area?
fyi, I tried to visit the IST web site, www.ataturkairport.com , but it does not seem to work. |

I did a International Connection in Ist last November and you CAN connect without going through customs. Leave plenty of time because the transfer desk has to cover all airlines and they have to run upstairs to the BA desk to get boarding passes etc. I nearly missed a 90 minute connection with Swissair and a fellow I was talking with had a similar experience with BA.

If I were to be planning a same plane turnround on BA which is a 70 minute transit I might have some problems? Has anyone ever done this? Can BA issue both boarding passes in London before departure?

In my experience BA can issue both boarding passes. So you should have no problem, and the turnaround time is usually enough to chill out in the lounge and check out the shops.

No problem then :) Shame you're not going to spend any time in IST, such a great city.

I know. The same with CAI: four times there, never out of the airport.
At the moment my AONE3s are essentially just first class returns HKG-LHR-HKG with a lot of mileage running thrown in. Now if I could manage to hold on to a girlfriend long enough to plan and take some holidays... :( (or summon up the enthusiasm to holiday on my own) |
